This album was meant to be on iTunes. This album is absolutely intriguing. It soothes the mind when you hear his gentle music. I love it

Differs from Radiohead....a lot!!. In The Eraser, Radiohead's lead singer forgets the pop-rock sound and turns semi-acoustic. Songs like Cymbal Rush and The Clock show Yorke's, " soft side" as you could call it. In songs like Black Swan and Hearing Damage (released on the New Moon soundtrack), they include many voice effects and notes from synthesizers. So, if you get this album,DO NOT EXPECT RADIOHEAD CONTENT!! My favorite songs are: Black Sean, Atoms for Peace, and Analyse.

Cymbal rush. Long radiohead fan. This album didn’t do much for me until one day I listened to Cymbal rush with headphones. A completely moving experience. Delicate, hesitant, gorgeous, a reflection of an artist near the top of his confidence.

On another plane . Iam I insane. The Eraser song is more than meets the analytical mind,,,

3 years later, better than ever. Great music ages well, maybe sounding better than it did when it was first heard. Many RH fans, myself included, were nonplussed by this record at the time, but as I listen again to it well-after the release of In Rainbows, I realize that my original reaction to this album was colored too much by what I thought was supposed to be the "Radiohead sound," which at that time was Hail to the Thief. By the time that record came out, Thom Yorke was already playing with different sounds, which were perfectly realized with In Rainbows. The Eraser is an ideal accompaniment to that album, and no question stands quite well among the strongest RH records. Eraser haters, give it another try!!

A Thing of Beauty!. Thom Yorke has definitely proven himself to be a musician in his own right on this brilliant album. The songs are distinctively Thom Yorke, yet refreshing and transcendental to the ear. Absolutely an astounding achievement from one of the world's most iconic musicians, in my opinion. This album showcases his incredible vocal range and love for textured electronic soundscapes. The songs have the effect of making you feel like you are floating on crack. My favorite songs on the album are, "Black Swan", "The Clock", "Eraser" and "Analyse." Even music listeners who are not familiar with Yorke's work with Radiohead, will undoubtedly fall in love with this piece of work, as it certainly stands on its own.

Fantastic. "The Eraser" is really a fantastic album. Whether you're a Radiohead fan or not, this album is unique and brilliant on its own. It's very relaxing "chill music" that you're sure to enjoy. Definitely worth the $10.

9 songs for $10?. Don't download the album. Download the 9 individual songs, unless you really want the interactive booklet.

If it wasn’t for Skip Divided this would be 4 stars. I’ve finally purchased and listened to this album after going on a Thom Yorke binge. Comparatively, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes is actually a better album as for being a solid listen. I was vibing on this album until the track Skip Divided. It’s a fairly energetic drum and bass oriented piece. Atoms for Peace (the song, not the band) features some of Thom’s most beautiful singing in the history of Thom Yorke. Stunning. Lyrically, this album is more akin to Bendsy/OK Computery/Hail to the Thief style story telling, versus the random blips and mumblings of Kid A. The vocals are crisp. The production is solid. It’s nothing mind blowing. And minus being inconveniently snapped out of the meditative trance it put me in when the Skip Divided started, this album is pretty solid.

Yorke is the man!. I find myself drifting away from Radiohead from time to time, and as i do i find myself making comparisons to them and other bands - such as Muse, a band that i love. After listening to this album, particularly Black Swan, it makes one realize that they don't have half the talent collectively as Thom Yorke. This album is effing sweet and i reccomend it to anyone contemplating a purchase...

Wow. I have never heard a solo album that has Wowed me before. Thom wherever you are take a bow.

It's............okay?. I mean it'd interesting, but there's not a lot of force behind it. It seems to fall flat. No politics or religious morals. A bit......spineless, honestly. I'm not a listener to political rap, Green Day, or any Christian rock, but to hear nothing? Dull. I'll just get back to listening to my U2 albums, or maybe some Peter Gabriel.

Great Album. This album is a must for anyone whose favorite Radiohead album was Kid A or Amnesiac. The compositions are remarkable considering this was Thom's work alone. However it seems to me that this album is Thom's most political to date, (i.e. The clock, harrowdown hill, And it rained all night, black swan, and especially Cymbal Rush). Almost every song on this album can be linked to global warming or politics. So maybe this was Thom's way to vent his frustration, or as others have suggested is his way to experiment with electronica/vocal combination. My favorite track has to be Cymbal Rush, tied with the artwork it is one of Thom's most gut-wrenching songs since he wrote Street Spirit (Fade Out). Don't be fooled by Thom's soothing vocals at times, this song is about suffering and destruction on a massive scale. To really get at its meaning, I would watch footage of Katrina's aftermath or the tsunami in Indonesia, which is what comes to mind when you read the lyrics. ALSO: check out the acoustic version of The Clock on youtube when he performed live on the Henry Rollins show, it is epic, and probably better than the original album cut.

The Eraser. First off, Thom Yorke does not try to stray away from his signature sound or creative process in which we all know and love in Radiohead, but uses his ingenuity to create something much more personal to him with simple, but intricate electronic beats that at first don't seem like much until his voice melodically pulls everything together to actually make a song. The presence of the album seems dark and almost demeaning with songs like "The Clock" in which you know something is bothering him, but you can not decipher what it's entirely about. That's Thom Yorke though which is great. I prefer to listen to this album on a cloudy gray day alone in my room because the songs don't feel "whole" enough for anywhere else. I think anyone who takes the time to sit down and really listen to it intently can appreciate this album. It really shows just how different Thom Yorke hears music throughout his head and he can immensely change yours too.

You Have Tried Your Best To Please Everyone. I've been listening to radiohead since I was fourteen, so it's been a thirteen year journey. I've always liked their more electronic sounding albums better than their earlier works and this album definity belongs in that catagory. It isn't a "masterpiece" but it is certainly worth picking up if you are an avid radiohead follower; If you are not then you probably wouldn't like it. My favorite tracks are "The Eraser", "Black Swan" and "Atoms for Peace". I recommend when listening to "Black Swan" cranking that ish up to 11!

AWESOME ALBUM!!!. Thom Yorke is a very impressive artist. Prior to 2007, I never really new him, or anyone from the Radiohead band. But his song "Black Swan" really caught my attention since it was in "A Scanner Darkly" and when I heard the song over the credits, I liked it, and I looked the song up online and it led me to Thom Yorke. It also led me to his other songs on this album and songs on EP albums as well. Then friends at school introduced me to the rest of the band and now I can be considered a Radiohead fan. It's a shame that iTunes doesn't have the earlier Radiohead albums, like "Hail to the Thief", "Amnesiac", "Kid A" or "OK Computer", though. I don't know when Yorke will release a second solo album, and only time will tell, but it'll be worth waiting for, because it'll be just as good!

Analyse¡. Amazing album but Analyse is by far the best song on it.

Cover is better than album. But its good enough to buy anyway.

Stop the Hate. To all of you posting mean reviews about this album, Thom Yorke, and/or Radiohead: stop it, please. I realise you are free to voice your beliefs, and I respect that, but that does not give you the right to try to convert us true Radiohead enthusiasts to whatever hogwash it is that you non-Radiohead-fans listen to.

this album amazed me. I love radiohead and i said ohh no when i saw thom yorke was coming out with a solo album so i bought it to give it a chance and it amazed me it has the kid a feel with the amnesiac sound and i highly recomend

It's great, but not Radiohead-great. The Eraser is certainly a brilliant album--probably one of my personal all time favorites--but if I'm being honest, it still doesn't quite amount to any of Radiohead's albums (except of course Pablo Honey). However, in its own right, The Eraser comes highly reccomended. If there was any doubt that Thom Yorke was one of the greatest musicians in the world, this will put it to rest. It's best listened to as a complete album, and there's no stinkers in the bunch, so you'd be best off just buying the whole album.

Best album of 2006. Thom Yorke's solo project (or as I like to call it "Kid B") was the best album I listened to in 2006. Maybe that's because I think Radiohead's "Kid A' is their best album (and one of the all time bests) but when it comes to electronic music there can be nothing better than this album. It oozes despair from it's very core and challenges the listener to keep listening. It's unbelievable how creative Yorke can be and he holds nothing back creatively on this superb album. It should be known that it's a big step away from the Radiohead sounds and heavily electronically influenced but word on the street is Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead's guitarist) worked a little with Yorke on this album so his influence can be heard if listened closely enough. When I think of electronic music, The Eraser is the first thing that comes to mind and I still have yet to see something trump this in creativity.

Not Sure. why this album is called brilliant. It is the opposite of that adjective. Thom Yorke is no genius, nor is he some brilliant singer. He cannot hold a candle to Jonsi from Sigur Ros, and this album simply grates. Have you ever chewed tin foil? It's like this album.

Simply put, a masterpiece. If you're a fan of Radiohead (which you should be), you won't be surprised with this album. Classic, sometimes beautiful, sometimes disturbing and sometimes a mixture of all three adjectives songs are what this album is comprised of. It's not as deep as a typical Radiohead album, but the Thom Yorke still has a way with words, with his beautifully crafted lyrics in "Black Swan" and "The Eraser." The title and opening track is the highlight of the album, in my opinion. Four piano chords are the basis for one of the most deep and interesting songs I've ever heard. So much goes on, all while demonstrating Yorke's creativity and impressive range (vocal, and knowledge of instruments). Definitely a must buy.

Pure. Shoot me now, fans...because this album is a step above Radiohead's group work. Thom's delicate wavering falsetto and quasi-confessional lyrics really find their home in these intimate electronic tectures and beats. This is not filler material for Radiohead fans, it is a separate, and in my opinion superior, piece of work. Radiohead never sat well with me...always was too overblown, too self-consciously clever, too dreary for me. Thom Yorke won me over with this album...all the elements just come together beautifully, somehow turning that world-weary melancholy into something beautiful and pure. I think guitars and live drums get in the way of Thom's voice somehow--like he needs something less obviously organic in which to showcase his almost otherworldly vocals. Minimalist electronic music is the perfect medium for his vocals to really shine. This is a beautiful album. And I still don't like Radiohead, so just lynch me now...

interesting. i liek it, but does it liek meh?

to thom. thank you so much.

jon and kate plus hate. this album is a cross between frank sinatra, britney spears, vanilla ice, milla vanilli, fugazi, black flag, the melvins, the movie 2001, phish, the wu-tang, larry the cable guy, bob saget, three six mafia, michael jackson, 12 monkeys, oprah winfrey, george w. bush, larry king, stephen king, any pornography, nirvana, the godfather, pee wee herman, according to jim, the good years of full house, the view, regis philbin, wall-e, paris hilton, batman, star wars, 3d movies, ice cream, chinease food, skinamax, adult swim, seinfeld, transformers, david mamet, quinton tarentino, satan, jesus, south park, stephen colbert, cheech, chong, and bill murray all rolled into one. In other words awesome

Pure Genius - May take several listenings. Okay, the first time I listened to it I actually hated it! I thought it was boring and I missed the band (Radiohead). I liked a couple of songs, though and I kept listing. After a while, the songs grew on me. Now, this album has it's own identity and I love it. It's very relaxing, spacey, and has a great sound. The main thing that brings me back to it is the strong melodies and Thom's voice. Give it a chance - you won't regret it after you've listened to it many times.

Thom Yorke is a genius. Whether with Radiohead or on his own, Thom makes music that fills the soul and keeps your ears happy.

Great. I didn't have much expectations for this album, cuase i find that solo albums of band memebrs arn't usually that great, but this is actually really good. I give this album a 5 cause, even though its not up with most of the radiohead albums, this album is way better than most other band albums out there.

Buy the piece by piece. Buy each song individually and save a dollar. Sure, you don't get the booklet, but I don't care.

Thoughtful, poetic, and haunting.. Thom Yorke's solo album is every bit as good as Radiohead's, in my opinion. If you were to compare this album to one of Radiohead's, it would inaverdently be group with Kid A. Unlike "artists" who will sell themselves out to any level for a piece of the media, Thom Yorke and Radiohead have built their legacy solely on ingenuity, creativity, and progressive thought. Thom's work on The Eraser doesn't cease this talent; the music seems to fit Thom's haunting, hollow voice perfectly. Well done.

it's a shame to be this talented. this album melts my little heart. Harrowdown Hill & Eraser are brilliant. I also love Black Swan. His voice fits with his eclectic style of instrumentation so beautifully.

I was expecting Radiohead.. It's not Radiohead. Thom Yorke has his own individual sound that he makes pretty clear on this album. In general the songs go from pretty good to not so good. Radiohead's collective sound is much more appealing to me. Best songs: Analyse, The Eraser

Analyse. Analyse is by far my fav song. I listen to it when I'm walking from class to class. It's officially my song now.

To all the wannabe "rebels". why is this on itunes? because people like the way it sounds. it sounds good, people buy it, itunes sells it. we're all sick of your anti-business anti-corporation rhetoric. save it for your blog.

Takes a Couple Listens. At first, I'll admit I wasn't digging all the electronica running rampant through the record. Though, what do you expect from Thom Yorke? He's willfully difficult and loves to be contrary. That being said, there are some really great tracks on here. "Harrowdown Hill" is my favorite; an overlooked gem.

THOM THOM THOMMY THOM THOM THOM. Amazing, thom yorke is truly one of the legends of music........reminds me of the Amnesiac Radiohead album........ I know Radiohead's opinion on the music industry, but I'd really like to see more of their music on iTunes...maybe they could offer it for free, like they did on their website? (Just a thought.)

I love Thom and.... its great really after a couple of listens you'll be hooked however its seriously missing something..oh yea.. the rest of the band..

Thom Yorke: The Eraser. It's like another planet. Being where Thom Yorke stands. This guy never ceases to amaze me these days. I'm ashamed to say that I'm a new Radiohead fan after berating them for years and listening only to "Creep" and "In Rainbows". These past four or five months gave me new revelation to Radiohead. The surprise satisfaction of "OK Computer", "Kid A", "Hail to the Thief" etc. has given me a newfound respect and appreciation for the band. And I couldn't be anymore jealous of Thom Yorke's genius. His genius makes me mad at mine. I have heard of his solo album "The Eraser" but have never given the chance to listen to it. On tumblr, I've ran into the title track and I've instantly loved it. Then, there was "Harrowdown Hill", "Black Swan" and "Atoms for Peace". And it took off from there. "The Eraser" is really good and cements Thom's place as quite possibly my favorite singer of the time. His voice, unlike other Radiohead records, show a sense of fragility and vulnerability unlike any other. I just don't hope that he wouldn't release another solo record, because there would be no other way to top this. Four and a half stars. Recommended tracks are "The Eraser", "Analyse", "Black Swan", "Atoms for Peace", "And It Rained All Night" and "Harrowdown Hill".

wow. whoever doesnt think Thom Yorke is talented shouldnt even be on i tunes.. Very good music

Almost... Admittedly I was enticed to check into this album after reading its credits at the end of a movie called, "The Prestige." Unfortunately the song that reeled me in was 'Analyse', which for me was the strongest song on the album. Though it caught my ear very quickly and held on and is still holding, I just can't get through another song on the album without skipping the track before it has played through. Thom's lyrics are as always inventive, creative, thought out, and crafted. I'm afraid in many ways though its like taking an orchestra and removing the string section when the remainder of the band is absent. Good effort nonetheless.

Musical genius. Thank you Mr. Yorke

See Thom do this live.... After seeing Thom and Flea twice with the band...and it just for no reason popping up in my head, I went back and listened to this album again. Live they brought it to another level almost better than Radiohead does, but I have such a better appreciation for this album now. And Thom, please.....GIVE US SOME NEW RADIOHEAD MUSIC NOW BEFORE I HAVE A STROKE!!!!!! Thank You

!. A beautiful collection of songs displaying Thom Yorke's musical ingenuity, a must-have for music lovers.

Mediocre... But has some quirks.. It's worth buying for it's instrumental region. The album is aloof and creative, but it feels a bit empty with the lack of Radiohead influences. I would consider this better than half of the King of the Limbs, but it's no way competable with any of the other Radiohead discography. Anyways, let's let go of the fact that Thom is from Radiohead. This album then, is mediocre and worth a few gems and beats, but otherwise bestows no immediate beauties. It takes gradually a few listens to get into the "jist" of things for this album. That being said, I believe this album should be bought if you want the entire "collection of radiohead." This would be more worthy to stand for some Lost Treasures rather than stand alone for Thom's solo work.

Missing the Band. I am a gigantic fan of Thom York and the Radiohead team in general, and when my brother first showed me this album I was wondering how on earth I didn't own it yet. There are some great moments on this album for sure...the first four songs are really strong and in general the album comes through on the "Listen with your headphones" ear-candy that usually accompanies a Radiohead recording. Thom York's vocals certainly do not disappoint...you should know by now if you like it, and I certainly do. My problem is that while I enjoy the album, it is all forgettable. There are very few moments that I want to listen to again and again...like pretty much every Radiohead album has. In short I just may not be cut out for a completely electronic vibe...J. Greenwood just rips to much!

An Evocative, Compulsory Listen.. Layered, poetic, gorgeous. This is music I've been looking for forever. Mr. Yorke's exemplary, passionate record also helped introduce me to (a) genre(s) of music with which I was previously unfamiliar, and which I now find absolutely essential. Great lyrics, great, passionate vox, great melodies, great sounds, great album.

Great to Hear Thom Alone. Great to hear what Thom Yorke comes up with without the other members of Radiohead. These songs are a little less approachable than Radiohead's, but after time I've gradually come to enjoy each.
