underappreciated. Having outlasted the post-grunge wave, Third Eye Blind is still trying to claw their way up from the bottom of the alt. rock heap for some kind of much deserved acclaim. Critical favorites they're not, but regardless, they maintain a dedicated fan base and continue to blossom their great sound especially on "Blue." "Never Let You Go" and "Deep Inside of You" are more standard, radio-friendly fare with solid lyrics, but true standouts are "1000 Julys" and "Wounded." Few lyricists could tackle sexual abuse and sexual desire within a breath of one another but Stephen Jenkins is not just any lyricist. The other songs are more experimental, but are great for dedicated fans. For newcomers, start with their debut but definitely pick this one up for a darker slice of their chiming, hook-laden light rock.

Awesomeness in CD form.. Blue is by far one of the best CDs in my rather large collection. A few years ago I would've told you this was their weakest album, however. How wrong I would have been. Every note played is sincere, every lyric sung is meaningful, and every track here knocks it out of the park. The best songs are An Ode To Maybe (their best song ever) and The Red Summer Sun, but I didn't get into those songs until after many listens. I advise newcomers to get Anything, Wounded, Never Let You Go, and Deep Inside Of You, which are more immediate. This song is about half-immediate, half-grower. And it is perfect; I wouldn't have it any other way. Every fan of music should give this CD a look.

Brilliance. Every single song on this album is fantastic in its own way. The first 6 tracks are the most radio friendly, but the last half of them album is where the band really shines. Songs like An Ode to Maybe, Camouflage, Darwin and Farther offer a tripped out sound that should be listened to with quality headphones to hear every nuance of the song. Darkness and Wounded are the two stand out tracks, Darkness offering brooding guitar and lyrics with the best outtro Cadogan has written. In wounded every member of the band completely shines. Kevin's guitar is spot on, almost singing the song by itself. Brad's drums are huge and concussive. Arion's bass flies around, bringing orderly chaos to the song. Jenkin's lyrics and vocals come together to complete the song as a complete masterpiece. Songs like NYLG, 10 days late and 1000 julys may be the catchiest, but don't hold a match to the rest of the album. Blue offers a massive, tripped out sound that should be appreciated by everyone.

Depth. This album takes me back, and in a good, deep, reflective way. I love rediscovering this album. It's real stuff - it feels like nothing gets lost in the translation of these lyrics from the hearts of TEB to the listener.

No Reviews?. This has been out for so long and no one has reviewed it except the main review? It's a great CD, no, not as overall good as the first CD as noted, but still worth buying - er, at least until you get halfway through it. Tracks 1-6 are listenable to over and over again, after that you don't really get another good song until track 12. Best songs of these are: 1. Wounded - emotive rock ballad, much like something dramatic Collective Soul or U2 would have put out 2. 1,000 Julys The hardest hitting song on the track. They don't hold back the guitars on this one. 3. Never Let You Go - The big pop/rock hit of 2000, if you were old enough to buy your own CDS at that time, you've heard it ;) 4. Deep Inside Of You - Very moving, lyrically probably the best song on the album. Slower ballad 5. 10 Days Late - Another very lyrically strong song that really tells a story. Not as hard as 1000 Julys but a rocker none the less. 5. Darwin - Fun mid tempo pop rock song. 6. Anything - a short guitar driven track. Honestly, I'd say get the album, since your'e pretty much buying $7 worth of music just by getting those songs right there. But if you're watching every purchase you might just want to get those individual tracks. It's not that the rest of the album is bad, it just falls into the background of these seven great songs.
