Name of this Album is Killer Live. On a live album it is rare that you get the perfect rock and roll storm: a band in their prime, a band that is psyched to play the tunes they are recording and lastly a true high quality sound recording. For Heads fans this is a MUST HAVE. The band was at its creative peak and had yet to be weathered by the buzz saw of fame and public srutiny. They take chances by bringing in more musicians and allow them to add their special ingridients but don't allow anything to dominate their work. I don't know who thought about using a killer mixing board but whoever it is a) our ears and archives thank you b) is it still too late to convince producers to not skimp on the recording equipment? The music speaks for itself.

A Song About Nothing?. The T-Heads could be considered as at least 2 bands, maybe 3, depending on the era when they made their music. This album shows the first 2 periods: of great straightforward songs powered by frenetic energy and complete unpretension, morphing into one of the most experimental bands of their times. After all, the live songs of the second half of this album are infused with the extra skill of Adrian Belew, simultaneously of King Crimson fame. This album is great, lying alongside a handful (at most) of other live album masterpieces, for which one will have to scour the discographies of other innovative and hardworking rock and pop bands. Anybody who likes good music should give it a try. So what about the question: Is a song like ``Don't Worry About the Government" really a `song about nothing' (Seinfeld style)? We would have to ask the T-Heads, but I don't think so. When you compare it to the cliche topics of most rock and pop songs, you appreciate the clear simplicity. A song about something, not necessarily attempting to be overly deep, but at least honest and great to listen to.

Great early document of the band. I'm a casual Talking Heads listener, not a huge fan by any means, but this release is a great overview of the band's progression in their early years from 77-81. While Stop Making Sense (also awesome) is a slick, huge production, these recordings sound like tight, no-frills soundboard recordings that give an amazingly naked glimpse of the bands early sound. You really hear what a TIGHT, talented band they were, get a sense of Byrne's quirky spontaneity and the band's funky, rhythm machine character that would hit its peak with Stop Making Sense. This is like hearing the foundations of Talking Heads. I imagine this is a 'must have' for serious fans, but casual listeners like me can enjoy it too.

For Heads-heads only. I bought this on CD because all I had by TH was "The Best Of" and I wanted a little more, but I'm by no means a Talking Heads-head. For a person like me, this album isn't very good. The only song worth downloading is "A Clean Break (Let's Work)." Two other songs--"Pulled Up" and "The Big Country"--are great, but better in their original album versions.

Oh Yeah!. Its like every good song from every talking heas album on one cd! But you know what I hate? When the new pop junk sings (or talks) about stuff that makes sense on contact. Your supposed to think about the lyrics in a song, not just listen to the lame drum beats behind them. I think the phrase "I'm a pimp" makes more sense than any lyric from Don't Worry About the Government, Psycho Killer, or any talking heads song. But is it as interesting? Of course not. Dom
