Their best?. That's a difficult qualification. Just get 'em all and then try to decide. Waste of money getting compilations though as so much will be missing. Then watch Stop Making Sense which I was amazingly lucky to see in NYC on its original release.
Their best...a forgotten classic. This is a great, great album. Far and away the best of the first 4 albums (I've not heard the subsequent ones). The guitar-bass interplay is superb...Tina Weymouth is one of those white bassists who DOESN'T appear to have an athritic thumb (in Nick Hornby's words). Contrary to the iTunes review, the quality falls off markedly after the great "Stay Hungry".
HIgh School. this one beat the high school love blues. Songs about decent government, art, staying hungry? What the? and that squeeky uncool voice? David Byrne was so uncool he was the opposite of what he was....! But the rest of the band was more intriguing... a female on bass? Wow... The sounds were so new in 1970-something. Still brilliant, and by the way, go see Byrne in concert today; he still has it.
Pretty decent work. Good album with some great tunes and the best version of Take Me To The River. Very good listening.
