SORRY ITUNES. as much as i love the dead...especially this and europe 72....i will never buy them here...my 40 odd year old vinyl records work just as well

Hey, let's release some new tunes. on a live album. No reruns here, but Bertha, Wharf Rat, Playin in the Band. This was my introduction to the Dead after Skeletons from the Closet many years ago. I know now that some of this material was pulled from shows with "all the hits." Amazeballs.

Grateful Dead (Skull & Roses). As good as "Workingman's Dead" and "American Beauty" were, the Dead were a live band, and this collection of songs from their spring '71 tour is a snapshot of them at their early peak. Everything was spot on, but of the dozens of 'The Other One' versions I have, this is singularly the best - tight, nuanced, just the right length, and more purposeful than any version I know of. All you kids out there who are curious about the Dead need to listen to this album about 10 times in a row. Like Bach, the Dead took all sorts of influences - folk, blues, jazz, gospel, and (of course) rock and created something utterly unique.

Excellent, excellent. This is one of my favorite albums. Lovely selection of live stuff from a good era in the band's history. Sometimes it almost sounds like a studio recording, but still with that live energy. Any Dead Head needs this album.

One of the best 60s albums. the SF groups like The Dead, Airplane, Santana, etc were what made the 60s the best decade (IMHO) I've lived. This is one of the best albums of that time.
