Great album, recommend it. I'm a Grateful Dead fan and this album has a great Jack Straw, China Cat, Brown Eyed Woman, Ramble On Rose, and Sugar Magnolia

Good Place to Start. I'm new to The Dead. Just started collecting and this was my first venture into live territory. Great recordings and a great collection of songs. It's been a perfect jumping off point for me as I'm sure it would be for others. "We can share the women, we can share the wine." Enjoy!

The ALBUM. This is the ALBUM that hooked me. I finally purchased the T-shirt last week. Love the Cumberland Blues beginning, sets the tone. This is the ALBUM I share to everyone.

Damned good, though not strictly "live". When they got home from Europe, the Dead set up all of the sound equipment they had used on tour ("to capture the ambience") and put down additional tracks which they mixed into the tracks that were recorded on the road, thus filling in the holes and some of the rough edges encountered on the tour. The result was perfection, but not purely live.* Don't let that turn you away from this album, you won't find a better live album by this or any other band. *Scully & Dalton, "Living With the Dead," page 228.

Best thing they ever did. I'm an oddity who prefers the veneer of studio polish that seemed to reign in the band, but still, as a musician, mightily admire what they were capable of generating live. This is the best of both worlds. As a live album, it introduced a bunch of songs that would be live staples for the duration of their carrer and contains easily the best China Cat I have EVER heard. This is my favorite era for the band anyway- lil bit of Pigpen lingering (I think he was dying at this time from liver disease).
