First Grateful Dead album.... I try to listen to artists/band's albums in chronological order but a coworker gave me this and as someone who was born in 2000 and missed out on being alive during art, this album was perfect. One of my favorite albums from the 70s!
Perfection. The grateful Dead forgot to write more songs
A Masterpiece!. A true studio masterpiece. My favorite of the bluegrass driven GD albums, created in a moment when the band starts to explore studio production and vocal harmonies along side contemporaries Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, the Mommas and the Poppas, and others. An incredibly textured and moody album. One of my favorites from any band any time.
Amazing. For any deadhead (or anyone at all) this is an amazing album and probably contains some of their best songs like box of rain and a few others, I strongly recommend you to but the entire album
Perfect. This album may be the best Grateful Dead album, all the songs are perfect. This album just puts me in the best mood. This is a must for all deadheads!!!!! Deadheads Unite!!!
American Beauty. The dead smartly began crafting songs they would play in concert so their fans would know them . Their studio albums do not show what their live shows were like . This one has great songs and is a fan favorite..
The Best. I bought this on eBay, because according to family friends and Freaks and Geeks this is the best one and it always puts a stressed person in a good mood. After going to my fourth Gathering of the Vibes, I was excited to get some more Grateful Dead, and this album is just perfect
Essential Grateful Dead. Any collection of the Dead should include Blues for Allah, Working Man's Dead, and American Beauty.
Great place to start & to return. Stars can't do this one justice. American Beauty is a fountainhead for anyone wanting to enjoy the Grateful Dead. I'd venture to say it is in every Dead fan's collection, which, over time becomes a long series of live music released by the Dead via their archives, bootlegs, etc. While most Dead fans spend about 99% of their time listening to live shows, Like an old friend, you return to to American Beauty. The Dead got a lot albums right, but this one is a masterpieces of American music. You would be hard pressed to find a better whole album they produced than American Beauty. This is an album you don't buy bits and pieces of, makes me sad to think anyone would even consider doing that. Give it a few listens in total, and it will grow on you; this album in particular will give you an uplifting vibe that will forever enrich your life and regenerate your spirit. I am thankful I came across it early.
A Classic. This album is an essential, no matter what type of music you typically prefer.
❤️. ❤️
A box of rain will ease your pain and love will see you through. This is the best album period. Every song is perfect. This album is perfect. From start to finish. It will change your life.
Dead in the Nam. Someone got this album recorded on a reel to reel Feb 71’ and played it over the load speakers on our base just outside Dang Ha just short of the DMZ, made our fire mission that much sweater that night. NamVet7071
keeping real music alive!. I'm 17 & listening to this in 2015 opposed to the junk that's out nowadays!
One of my favorites. I’ve always loved this album. There’s so much earthy soul to it.
The best Grateful Dead album ever. It has every great song with a few classics and is very soothing to listen too while it is good to sing it.
