Great Album. I'm very hard on new music and I loved this album from day one. Sleep to dream is an amazing way to start the album out. I love almost every track. Sullen Girl and Give Me the First Taste (Those might not be the names, but they are the chorus) are a couple of non singles that are emotional in different ways. There's a sort of jazz feel to this album- and maybe to a lot of her music now that I think about it. A great debut and my favorite album of hers with Extraordinary Machine coming in second. That album is genius.

Dear iTunes (r)eviewer, Surely by now you've become aware of the tremendous disparity between the jaded and presumptious opusculum you've let ferment atop this page and the unanimous display of approval and adoration that has been patiently accumulating, in silent mutiny, down here at the mezzanine. We the people, in and on behalf of the noetic glow worms, would like to submit a motion for the revoking of the aforementioned and ever moldy critique, the formal apology of its author to the underside of some soda fountain countertop (in the form of chewed gum), and the vindication--not to be slighted as mere retrofitting in light of Jon Brion's late approval--of iTunes' public opinion of said artist. And if you, decidedly lowercase "r" reviewer (to settle the debate above in the salutation), still have your job, and or haven't been stalked and bitten by Miss Apple herself, and or haven't yet offended the musical taste of a devoted reader of perhaps J.D. Salinger's uncollected short stories (and, consequently, been unable to receive paper mail for all the insurgent letters that have besieged your front porch), you should know that many of her, Fiona's, listeners are of the letter writing type and more than quite willing to wage postal war. Mere sciolism may afford you your current position, and perhaps one day you may yourself write a letter that will incite a friend or foe to pull over and examine a dead deer by the side of the road, but you assuredly cannot hope to ever convince me that before you wrote this review you actually listened to--not just heard--this album; that its silvery notes of music and lyrics were not compounded to the already heavily oxidized tissue in and around your cochlear nerve; and that iTunes reviewers don't tend to use dazzling vocabularies but not enough punctuation in their assaying of musical art. We, the people of the perigee, prefer to orbit much more closely to the Truth and would gladly receive you to our moon should you deign to fulfill your destiny. Our entreaty remains yours, truly. Stunning. Fiona Apple proves her worth as a modern songwriter on Tidal. Each song tugs at your heartstrings, with descriptions of love and heartache that soar in their complexity, and the album is overall very beautiful and impressive. Fiona's voice burns with anger and passion as she sings, and she shows a vulnerable side on this album that we can all relate to. This album is exactly why we love Fiona. Never is a Promise, Criminal, and Sleep to Dream are some of my favorites

best of the best. seriously itunes?? this album was a breakthrough in music in the year it was released. and the fact that it still holds up over 16 years.... wow.

Shadow boxer baby!. Not sure what movie I was going to see when this song played in the theater before starting. I immediately bought the album and have replaced a few times. This song an all time favorite along with Mazzy Star, and Beth Ortin at that time.
