LIVE LIVE LIVE !!!. buy the live stuff, go back to 85

Absolutely Stellar!. I'm just going to start off by throwng this out there, it's more bang for your buck if you get the physical deluxe edition and not the iTunes version. It may be $150, but you get some real nice collectables. Now, on to the review. This, and Kill 'Em All's, remasters are FLAWLESS. The sound engineers did an amazing job remastering these tracks. They gave them such depth, it's absolutely incredible. I've heard these songs many times before (Ride is my favorite Metallica album) but hearing these remasters, the songs just come ALIVE! Super good remaster. Personally, I'm a big fan of the live tracks that are included. Surprisingly enough, what I love most about those live tracks is the fact that the first couple of songs don't sound all that great. It's evident that the amps haven't warmed up, and the guitar volumes aren't at the right levels. However, it's just testament to the fact that this was at a time when musicians constantly had to make tweaks on stage in order to get the right sound. Sure enough, by the time tracks 2 and 3 roll around on the live version, the whole sound comes together as something incredible. These guys brought so much energy in their early days, and that energy more than comes through on these live versions. As for the demos, I'm actually a bigger fan of the garage demos than the studio demos. You hear the band broken down into what I can only describe as "raw". The grit, the gut, the drive. Those garage demos are far from a perfect mixing, but they are exactly what they say they are; a garage demo. 4 guys in a room, amps cranked loud, writing new songs. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in that room, you get a newfound sense for what Metallica was bringing to this album in the beginning. I honestly can't get enough of this deluxe remaster, and I'm thoroughly glad they provide enough content in it to fully sink your teeth into and appreciate all that these albums are. Like I said, Ride The LIghtning is my favorite Metallica record, and this deluxe remaster has given me the oportunity to fully embrace all that it is. Nice job Metallica!

Love this!. If you enjoy Ride the Lightning, and want remastered tracks with much better sound quality...you can buy just those tracks..you don't have to pay the $80 if you don't want the old live stuff. Pretty simple. If you're happy with the old recording of Ride and have no interest in the concerts, then this isn't for you. I swear people just want to complain.
