Sigh. Not paying 80$ no matter how much I love Cliff, picked up a couple Day at the Green recordings though.

Pricey. Hmmmm...seems legit?

Awful. Wouldn’t pay $7.99 for this pile of garbage, let alone 10x that. Only good versions are the originals, and I’ve had those for decades. Just stop.

Sad Day for Metallica Fans. Congratulations, Metallica, you’ve officially screwed your fans beyond belief. There are much better ways to spend my hard earned cash than paying $80 for this. Maybe $20, but any more than this would be better spent somewhere else.

Use your brains. Consider length over amount here. You get several hours of material, plus the remastered album for 80 bucks. If that's not enough to you then buy the box for 125 and you get all this plus posters, plus vinyl, and you can burn all the CD's to iTunes once you get em. If you're slamming this because of price you clearly haven't thought logically about the offer.

Absolutely Stellar!. I'm just going to start off by throwng this out there, it's more bang for your buck if you get the physical deluxe edition and not the iTunes version. It may be $150, but you get some real nice collectables. Now, on to the review. This, and Kill 'Em All's, remasters are FLAWLESS. The sound engineers did an amazing job remastering these tracks. They gave them such depth, it's absolutely incredible. I've heard these songs many times before (Ride is my favorite Metallica album) but hearing these remasters, the songs just come ALIVE! Super good remaster. Personally, I'm a big fan of the live tracks that are included. Surprisingly enough, what I love most about those live tracks is the fact that the first couple of songs don't sound all that great. It's evident that the amps haven't warmed up, and the guitar volumes aren't at the right levels. However, it's just testament to the fact that this was at a time when musicians constantly had to make tweaks on stage in order to get the right sound. Sure enough, by the time tracks 2 and 3 roll around on the live version, the whole sound comes together as something incredible. These guys brought so much energy in their early days, and that energy more than comes through on these live versions. As for the demos, I'm actually a bigger fan of the garage demos than the studio demos. You hear the band broken down into what I can only describe as "raw". The grit, the gut, the drive. Those garage demos are far from a perfect mixing, but they are exactly what they say they are; a garage demo. 4 guys in a room, amps cranked loud, writing new songs. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in that room, you get a newfound sense for what Metallica was bringing to this album in the beginning. I honestly can't get enough of this deluxe remaster, and I'm thoroughly glad they provide enough content in it to fully sink your teeth into and appreciate all that these albums are. Like I said, Ride The LIghtning is my favorite Metallica record, and this deluxe remaster has given me the oportunity to fully embrace all that it is. Nice job Metallica!

What happened?. This is my favorite Metallica album that you're trying to make me buy again by saying remastered. What happened to the Metallica that demanded their fans only pay $5.98 for their newest release? And that was when they had no money. Now they are rich because of the fans!! Seriously! And who would pay $80 for the same song 5 times on the same album. It's not 63 songs it's 8 songs played over and over. Disappointed to say the least.

Finally!!!. These remastered deluxe albums are amazing. The best part is how much these mainstream babies cry over it costing so much. They are only charging about $0.99 a song. Haters will be forgotten, Metallica will keep rocking.

Price is high due to Royalties to Mustaine. Dave wrote a lot of the songs. They want to make money which makes sense, I believe the price was jacked up so they could pay Mustaine a percentage and still make some pocket change.

Most overrated group/artists of all time.. Nothing but pure garbage. If you think these people are goat. Go listen to other better artists 😂😂

Loving the extras!. People with bad reviews don't understand this is the deluxe edition with live tracks, demos, etc. the regular remastered album is much more affordable. Just grab the edition you want (just the album or with the bonus tracks) The remaster sounds thicker and punchy without overdoing the loudness. The bonus tracks are a treat to hear early Metallica perform live.

How much is this?. My eyes are surely going bad. This cannot be correct.

Metallica - Ride The Lightning. FiRST!

$80????. I'll just keep my version from 1982. Thanks tho.....

Even More Ridiculous. Just when I thought I'd seen the most ridiculous pricing for digital music of all time (Kill 'Em All - Super Ultra Mega Deluxe Pile of Garbage) for nearly $70, here's the same band with the same strategy asking for $80!!! I wouldn't pay that much to have every piece of music Metallica has ever recorded. Whomever made the decision to charge this much for another version of an album most every Metallica fan already owns should "Ride the Lightning."

LIVE LIVE LIVE !!!. buy the live stuff, go back to 85

❤️. ❤️

$80 Serious?. Look at it from a fan's point of view: We already have these songs. If our choice is to spend our money on Volbeat's new album or spend 5X that much on songs we already have, sorry guys. I love the way it sounds but for me, it's not worth that much money.

80.00 why so expensive.... Blatant cash grab...how bout a new album already...and properly mastered for a change...

Love this!. If you enjoy Ride the Lightning, and want remastered tracks with much better sound quality...you can buy just those tracks..you don't have to pay the $80 if you don't want the old live stuff. Pretty simple. If you're happy with the old recording of Ride and have no interest in the concerts, then this isn't for you. I swear people just want to complain.

METALLICA. I love this band to no end, these remasters are great. I can't wait for "...And Justice For All"

LOL, poor people. Complaining about the price isn't going to change the price, this is an awesome collection for TRUE Metallica fans. You don't HAVE to buy it and you CAN just buy the parts you want. I feel it should have been $60 instead of $80 but reviews shouldn't solely be based on price, this definitely doesn't deserve 1 star.

$80? F you, Lars. No band rapes their fanbase like Metallica. Except maybe KISS. Anyone who buys this is a straight up 'tard.

😐. Sounds the same as when it first was released to me...

all metallica. atleast the did'nt do what most bands did at this point in there career like put out 5 or 6 greatest hits in one yearyou know what i mean greatest hits, best of, ultimate hits and so on thats one way of telling when a is washed up

Great Metallica album. This is my favorite Metallica album.

Great album. This is a remaster of one of Metallica's best albums. Sounds great. For those complaining this isn't new songs it isn't being marketed as that. If you don't want to spend $80 than don't. Apple Music lets you listen on streaming. The $150 that comes with the vinyl remaster is best deal.

Phenomenal. With both the Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning reissues, myriad options are available. For the casual fan, the standard CD and iTunes versions of the albums can be had for $10 or so. There are also collectable box sets containing multiple CDs, LPs, DVDs, posters, booklets and nice packaging. These physical boxes are limited and costly. Here, we have the iTunes digital deluxe versions, my personal preference. For $70 and $80 respectively, Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning are presented with all of the audio content found on the deluxe editions of the box set CDs. Absolutely all of the demos and bonus tracks are here. Whether all of the live content found on the LPs is presented here, I cannot say as of the time of writing this. However, there is more than plenty of live content to be had on the iTunes versions. Obviously, there is no video content, no audio interviews which are on CDs in the box sets, nor digital booklets. So what? Also, the rough mixes and demos sound phenomenal on the iTunes versions, about as well as the CD versions, as the original audio quality isn't exactly preserved well. To my knowledge, no demos or bonus tracks are album-only on iTunes. So if you just want the demos without the live content, you can purchase these individually and even burn them to a CDR and the quality will be the same as those in their physical box set counterpart. So yes, this is the best bargain in my personal opinion.

80?????. $50 something songs for $80. Not even all the "this is awesome hype" on Sirius xm can make that worth it. Loved this band for over 20 years now. It's time to create something great (and new) or simply stop defacing the band we all once loved.

LOLLN0P3!. With 80 bucks, I can buy most of their discography (I obviously don't want all of it). Thanks, but I think I'll hang onto what I got. XD

Garbage live recordings. Metallica’s live recordings are absolute GARBAGE!! I don’t know who in there right mind would spend this kind of money for this. I Love early Metallica albums but come one,,,,$80?? Keep your old cd’s and forget this crap, James You Can’t sing live, you sound terrible.

Do yourself a favor. The high price is for the physical boxed set. Don’t waste $69 on a download. Get the boxed set.

lol at this price. Why not just call this "Ride the Torrent"? Most people aren't going to shell out $80 for this.

Seriuosly?. HEY METALLICA ... HOW ABOUT MAKING NEW SONGS ... NEW ALBUM !!! NOT REMASTERING THE OLD STUFF

Not a "Blatant Cash Grab". Pick the ones you want, if you want any. The new album's coming, quit whining. If you followed the website you'd have known about these reissues for months.

Ummmmmm......no.. $80??????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck with that, guys.

63 songs x $1.29 = $81.27. This is not a cash grab, it is actually underpriced to make it MORE affordable. Thank you Metallica for the extra content.

Great album but.... I am not contributing anymore to the Metallica retirement fund unless it's new (and decent) material. I would only buy this if the funds go straight to drum lessons for Lars.

Really?... Not a single new track, just the same old songs we all know by heart. So don't be a sucker and waste $80 on this or $70 on the Kill Em All deluxe remaster. Metallica needs to either hang up their hats and go home or actually release new albums that AREN'T reusing that same old songs. This is just another disappointment from one of the at one time best metal bands ever.

Apple Music. Glad this is on Apple Music. Love me some Metallica but $80 for songs I already have. Nah...

To the 5 star reviews. Seriously? bend over, touch your toes…… Ok, Lars and Co. are ready to sell you the rest of their albums for $80 each now too.

This is for the die hards. To all the 1 star complaints: you complain for something you didn't pay for in the first place. You're talk couldn't be anymore cheap, so complain and protest all you want. Enjoy your $6 coffee (and feel free to criticize the run on sentence I'm about to write in the next paragraph) My reaction to the price threw me off at first. Then again, their live sh$t: binge and purge box set for $70 in 1993 threw me off too. But, it didn't stop me from purchasing it then.(and I was 15 at the time). If you are a fan that has been a part of the history, the prime, the evolution of this band, if you've had priceless memories and impact because you felt Metallica was a huge part of your life, then you'll enjoy every dollar you've spent on this.

I love Metallica but come on. There should be an option not to get all the live stuff. I just want the remastered stuff in a cheaper album. I don't think we should have to pay 80$

Awesome remaster and retrospective!. While this isn't the new studio album that Metallica is supposed to be releasing in 2016, this Deluxe Edition remaster is definitely something that should whet any Metallica fan's appetite. From the moment you hear Fight Fire with Fire from the original release, you can tell the audio quality definitely has gotten a lot better. It has dimension, ferocity, and punch: pretty much Metallica's signature "METAL UP THE A&@!" sound they are famous for. The sound quality superb and not flat at all. It pretty much floored me, especially since the original was flat and sounded like the reverb was cranked up to high. It's also cool they released some classic concert footage with it, too. It reminds you of how great they are live, even if it was over 30 years ago. I've just only dipped into it but I'm sure if you were there it's probably hype as hell to relive that memory. Every part of this remaster is awesome from start to finish! I've been a Metallica fan since middle school. I was born in 1986, but the sound quality and retrospection within this remaster makes me feel as if I was right there. I have no idea why anyone would give this album any less than five stars. If anything, you oughta appreciate this album more. I cannot wait to see what they will do (if they will) with Master of Puppets and ...And Justice For All. I don't care what level of fan you are, please pick this up or buy it digitally. You will not be disappointed!

80 bucks!. Are you serious? This is the same band that did the garage ep w a set price right? Digital copies should be half the hard copy prices..either way for old live songs and songs most evey Metallica fan already has is nuts. Good luck w the greed guys.. Once again your lawyers or reps are making you look bad

Awesome I’ve been waiting for this!. This remaster is awesome, even better sounding than the original mastered for iTunes version. now for all of those people who are giving bad reviews and complaining, Metallica mentioned on their website that they were gathering photos and other stuff for a deluxe remaster, so if you were paying attention you would have known this was coming. anyways i love this remaster, i have been a long time fan of metallica.

What?. $ 80 Metallica come on....
