Nothing like it. I've never written one of these reviews but this album has been so impactful to me that I feel like I need to. So eerie, amazing falsetto, so beautiful. You can fee the grit and warmth in his voice. Definitely a must-have album.

Stunningly Poetic. My friend actually introduced me to this album, and I'll have to say I was skeptical at first. The lyrics didn't seem to make sense and it was a lot different from the genre that I normally listened to at the time. However, actually giving the album a good listen, I was sent into pure shock. The lyrics are poetic and beautiful, the music goes with it well, and it tells the story of haunted pasts and people. To me, it is truly beautiful. Justin Vernon has true musical talent. I will never forget this album as one that has serenaded my high school career with its soft melodies.

First try is a charm!. There is something fascinating about completely giving up. How people will react to adversity will show there true colors. This album is what completely giving up looks like. It’s poetic and raw, and I thinks that’s why it speaks to people. It’s basic enough to to be accessible to the average listener, but also complex enough that hard core music lovers will appreciate it. It’s one of my favorite singer-songwriter-like albums. It is utterly unique and beautiful. Justin Vernon got it right on the first try, and he wasn’t even trying. He was ready to give up on music and look what he did with what he had! A masterpiece. That’s that.
