Better than you think. We’ve all heard terrible things about Bob’s 80’s gospel albums. However, this is the first one I’ve listened to and I quite like it. My main complaint about Christian music is that the compositions are often trite and unimaginative with lyrics lazily pulled straight out of the book of Psalms. Saved has Dylan bringing his signature style, almost a swagger, to faith-based songs. Sure, it’s not as good as his output in the 60s but that may be an unfair standard to hold it to. A deep cut for sure, and a pleasantly rewarding one.

Christ is Lord. Ignore the anti-Christian snobbery of the naysayers and allow this album to hit you in the heart. It's a fantastic work that only a bigot could pan.

Powerful songs and performance by a fervent Dylan..... As great as Slow Train Coming is, with SAVED, Dylan really stretches out with some powerful arrangements that showcase the creative output he was channeling at this time. Whether you like the subject matter or not, this is authentic Dylan being completely and powerfully honest. This is lightning in a bottle.

"...Won't let go and I can't let go....". Great album, Dylan fans can't pass this one up. The songs are more than great Dylan songs and the musicianship is top notch. Don't let the religiousness of it be a turn off.
