Wow, whoever wrote the main review.... Needs to wake up. This is a soulful album, not because it is reminiscent of the 60s and 70s, but because it it obvious that she is singing from there. Leela's arguement about making "real" music in her song "Music" is not tired, and it won't be tired until there is a change. Truth is, songs that make absolutely no sense and are inspiring or express words from the heart is what is popular. It's a shame. People like Leela speak their minds and are shut down? Why? Is it because people are too afraid or ashamed to admit that the music industry is the way that it is because of US? This is a really good album and I would not shun it.

WHY!!!!. you have to be kidding!!! I must say, I've witness Ms James live performance "a great 7 min of entertainment" I'm NOT feeling this project especially after waiting 4 years for it, it seen to me that there was NO effort put into it, I always thought when making remakes you take the song and make it your own... so who ever was behind this project should have been a true friend, family member, manger, PR and said "girl go back to the drawing board we waited this long!!!" heck they all should be FIRED!!!!!

This Is What Real Soul Is About. Leela James just took soul to a new level and spoke from her own heart about the struggle of all genres of music. Her voice is raw but delightfully musical and her topics is like icing on a cake. The All Music Guide would want to give this album another listen.

Much Welcomed. The initial album review here on iTunes cannot be more wrong. It seems to take Leela's claim too personally as if the reviewer was feeling the guilt of perpetuating the pseudo talent that is pushed by recent R&B and Soul singers these days and thought Leela's "Music" was aimed at them. I too am tired of the overtly slicked image of singers who resort to blatant sexual themes to sell their lack of singing talent. In addition, am I the only one tired of the obligatory rhyme by the 'rapper du jour' in the middle of a good groove? This is one strong album.

BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL. I slowed down buying music because I was so disappointed with it. It just seemed like artists were getting caught up in selling sex instead of music. I bought this album when it first came out because I heard a snippet of "Music" and I have not put it away since. Even when my car was broken into and my music was taken, the first CD I replaced was this one. If you are looking for good lyrics, beats, soul singing, arrangement this album as everything you are looking for. This was an excellent album. I don't know who wrote the review but they are not tuned into what's really missing in music because this album has it all.
