An unexpected disappointment. After thoroughly enjoying their last two records I must say that I found Y&G to be a bit of a letdown. With a rare exception, gone are any traces of sludge metal, and for that matter, much of anything metal at all. After really liking the first single, 'Take My Bones Away', I was expecting a similar sound for the rest of the record; but it's nowhere to be found, except maybe on The Line Between. Baroness are not a prog metal/prog rock band, yet most of this album affects a prog-metal vibe; apparently the band has been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd and perhaps some Mars Volta lately. It's not convincing. 'Sea Lungs' seems to be going for a 'Golgotha' vibe, but instead sounds like early to mid 80s Ozzy or Priest fare, minus the epic guitar of Rhoads or the howling Halford vox. The band also veers off into modern indie rock territory on other occasions. Sorry, guys, but I heard plenty of this exact same music in the 80s NWOBHM era. The lack of direction and cohesion is apparent and obvious; any pretense towards heaviness has been abandoned :( The final fault I will find with this album is the horrendous mixing and production. The drums seem to be heavily compressed and are simply horrible compared to the last two records, and the indie-rock/prog gloss dilutes any sense of depth or resonance. Vocals sound buried. Overall, 2.5/5.

My Personal Album of the Year. Well I guess third times a charm is actually true. Baroness has created som stellar albums in the past. I can definitely see why so many Baroness fans have problems with this album. The sound is different. WAY DIFFERENT. Yet, it just sounds better. If you were pull away from this album by negative comments from Baroness conservatives, I must ask you at least listen to this album and discover how much musical genius Yellow and Green exerts. Final Verdict 10/10

Wow.... I listen to diverse styles of music, but honestly appreciate the heavy stuff most. Definitely enjoyed this band’s previous albums and sadly this one (plus the rest after) have only had maybe three or less great jams. It’s exactly what happened to Opeth, In Flames and numerous others. What a shame.

Hidden Potential!. I heard March to the Sea on the radio and i figured i would check them out. This album is somewhat of a pearl hidden in the sea, they are not mainstream and i think that is one of the reasons why this is such a find! If you want to sample before you buy, i would lisen to march to sea and eula.

Starts off strong but ends weak.. Yellow gets off to a strong start, but slowly mellows out. When you get to green it just not heavy at all and in my opinion isn't as good. I mean i can listen to it, but its not near as good as the blue and red albums. Most of the time i listen to yellow and when i get to green change the album.
