Breath taking.. Baroness is still amazing! Love the growth and maturing of there sound. There is so much to baroness than any genre could ever explain who and what baroness is.....the truth is baroness is baroness. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. Eula is one of the best songs I have ever heard.

Album of the Year!. I have never seen a band evolve and change like Baroness has. From their sludge metal masterpiece Red, to the progressive artistry in Blue, Baroness has once again released something completely new, fresh, and rewarding. Very atmospheric and beautiful.

An unexpected disappointment. After thoroughly enjoying their last two records I must say that I found Y&G to be a bit of a letdown. With a rare exception, gone are any traces of sludge metal, and for that matter, much of anything metal at all. After really liking the first single, 'Take My Bones Away', I was expecting a similar sound for the rest of the record; but it's nowhere to be found, except maybe on The Line Between. Baroness are not a prog metal/prog rock band, yet most of this album affects a prog-metal vibe; apparently the band has been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd and perhaps some Mars Volta lately. It's not convincing. 'Sea Lungs' seems to be going for a 'Golgotha' vibe, but instead sounds like early to mid 80s Ozzy or Priest fare, minus the epic guitar of Rhoads or the howling Halford vox. The band also veers off into modern indie rock territory on other occasions. Sorry, guys, but I heard plenty of this exact same music in the 80s NWOBHM era. The lack of direction and cohesion is apparent and obvious; any pretense towards heaviness has been abandoned :( The final fault I will find with this album is the horrendous mixing and production. The drums seem to be heavily compressed and are simply horrible compared to the last two records, and the indie-rock/prog gloss dilutes any sense of depth or resonance. Vocals sound buried. Overall, 2.5/5.

Good stuff. I don't like it as much as the Blue Record, but there are some good moments, and every song is at its worst decent, at its best epic. Few complaints. But i'm not buying the whole thing.

Terrible.. I was a huge fan Of the red and blue albums, but this is just pop junk. How people are nominating this for album of the year is beyond me. Go listen to the blue album and forget they ever made these.
