A Fantastic Collection!. All of these tracks are essential to a well-rounded modern music collection. This is the only album where you can find Badfinger's original "Baby Blue," one of the best George Harrison songs ever written, almost recorded by The Beatles for "Let It Be" two years earlier. Van Morrison's performance on "Comfortably Numb" is an absolute classic. Roy Buchanan, much forgotten by most blues guitar fans, is well represented here in "Sweet Dreams." All of the tracks on this album deserve to be on any playlist.
i have a question. what is the name of the song that is played at the beginning when collin is a kid and costello is in the restaraunt?
never actually watched the movie.....but. i didn't actually see the movie but i like the music.
The Departed Soundtrack. As usual, Martin Scorcese gives us an excellent soundtrack to drive an intense, well acted film. One Way Out is an old favorite and fit beautifully in the bar scene with Leonardo and the cranberry juice. Choosing Sweet Dreams by Roy Buchanan to close out the film was pure genious.
Not bad, but not great.. There are some fine songs on this record, such as Comfortably Numb, but it is missing a very important song from the movie: Gimme Shelter! If Let It Loose is one here (which I don't remember in the film at all), why isn't Gimme Shelter, one of the greatest rock songs of all time? Along with I'm Shipping Up To Boston, that was one of the main songs of the movie. I'm Shipping Up To Boston is just OK, it doesn't compare to anything on the Dropkick Murphy's new masterpiece of an album, The Meanest Of Times. I feel the same about this soundtrack as I did the movie: it's good, not great, and the fans are making a big deal out of it.
