Sondheim and Madonna. What more can you ask. Two great artists doing a song together. Short but sweet and describes exactly what I'm feeling.

Best Madonna album. I'm not even a big fan of Madonna AT ALL. I like most of her hits from older albums, and that's about it. But this album is phenomenal. Buy it without thinking twice.

Good memories. I remember when this album came out in 1990 around the same time that Dicky Tracy obviously came out. Madonna was really at here peak around this time. There were a handful of decent tracks on this album that, if not incredibly memorable now, were fairly popular at the time. You can't really find most of these tracks on other Madonna albums with the exception of Vogue, which is on many. Some of my favorites here are Sooner or Later, Back In Business, More, and both versions of Now I'm Following You. Part 2 of Now I'm Following You is a great upbeat pop version of the song that sounds very early 90's. Love it! If you loved Dick Tracy or are a Madonna fan, you're sure to love this one.

I love Madonna. I love madonna

Breathless must have lost O2 to the brain.... He's a Man, Something to Remember, Vogue. Three amazing songs, one of which will, of course, go down as one of *the* classics. I always got the idea that she must have been eating Alpha-Bits and arranged the letters in her spoon to put these songs together. I am pretty much a diehard Madonna fan, and I would suggest that only such people give this a chance. Seriously, Vogue is on a couple of the collections. Something to Remember is on another one. Even the artists we love must have a "worst album" on their list. Love Madonna and *most* everything she's done - no deliberation necessary to put this one dead last.

+ SIMPLY WONDERFUL!!!!! "MADONNA" YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!. + SIMPLY WONDERFUL!!!!! "MADONNA" YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!

WHAT?. This is my favorite "Madonna" album just because it so unlike a Madonna album. The songs are fun and snappy without being sugary sweet. I'm Going Bananas (my favorite) evokes images of Carmen Miranda, which I am sure was completely intentional. Now I'm Following You parts 1 & 2 are also very appealing numbers despite Warren Beattie's limited vocal range. I could without the Vgoue track. It seems oddly out of place amongst these other more nostalgic songs.

love this album. Found the tape at my house and now I can't stop listeing!

BREATHTAKING!. The year was 1990 and the country was overrun by "Madonna-Overload"...but that's just how we liked it! This concept album, part of the marketing campaign for the film release of "Dick Tracy" set Madonna on a very unique path as an artist: she proved she can (again) take risks and explore avenues in her music that most pop-artist couldn't without jeorpadizing their entire careers. "Vogue" was the stand-out single from this album that changed the way we looked at video and how we approached the dance-floor, but this offering is filled with outstanding Madonna that found life in her "Blond Ambition Tour" (tracks by Stephen Sondheim which were also featured in the "Dick Tracy" film) and some original music inspired by the character she played in the comic-book epic...this Madonna truly left her fans breathless!

Swing Style Madonna. I'm Breathless (Music From and Inspired By the Film Dick Tracy) is a novelty cd that highlights Madonna's singing. There is the well-known and classic "Vogue" song on this cd.Then there are also multiple songs on this cdthat contain swing music that showcase her voice.I admit that "More" is one of my favorite songs on this cd.For this reason, I would recommend this cd to those who listen to various types of music and/or Madonna fans.

After all these years, still "Wow.". I loved this CD in 1990 when I was in my 20's and now my kids are listening to it because of, "Vogue" (which is the weakest song on this fantastic CD) and they are blown away by it. I took my daughter to see Lady Gaga and I couldn't help but think Gaga chose the right icon to mimic. Madonna's music and talent is truly timeless.

Love this album.. I was probably five or so when this movie came out. Iโ€™ve always loved this album. My mom had a copy and weโ€™d listen to it fairly often. Generally speaking, as an adult, Iโ€™ve grown out of listening to Madonna on the regular. However, Iโ€™ll pull this album out when the mood inspires.

The Movie..... Please put the DICK TRACY Movie on Itunes!! :)

It's Mandy Patinkin Who Rates a 5* Review. Madonna sings like an angel, but SHAME ON YOU, ITUNES!..it's Mandy Patinkin, the ["Irish" but reall Jewish!] tenor who just makes this song "breathless!" I wish it was longer than the 2 plus minutes. Pantinkin deserves credit for this song as much as Madonna!

Different drumming styles of Jeff Porcaro. Whatever genre of music. It needed a certain touch and that was supplied by the drums of the late Jeff Porcaro. He knew how to adapt his playing to enhance it. Songs like LowDown and Lido Shuffle by Boz Scaggs and I keep forgetting by Michael McDonald are just a few of the many great grooves that showcased his unique and laid back easy style. As usual what he did throughout his career was nothing short of spectacular. It is a testament to his enduring legacy. What he left behind will always be remembered not just by the artists that knew loved and worked with him.But also by all of his fans.He will always remain the number one drummer who plays drums on my heartstrings. And my Gorgeous Dreamyeyed Angel. Te Amo. And keep playing those drums in that Heavenly Orchestra up there. From down here a kiss. Meow. It's not the same without you in Toto. I will never stop thinking about you

I wish I could give this six stars. Ah, Madonna. Of all her incarnations, this one lies nearest and dearest to my heart. As a young gay sprout, I will never forget, in 1990 at the age of 14, sitting on the subwoofer in the back of Suzanne Donovan's jeep (She a senior, I a freshmen. What a privilege!) when I heard Vogue for the first time and I had never experienced ANYTHING like the relentless bass line thumping beneath me. I wasn't quite sure what all this was but I knew I had to have more. Since that time, and after Vogueing in numerous performances, I still consider this to be Madonna absolutely on top of her A+ game. Even after almost 20 years (gulp) the glamour is still wholly compelling.

Something to Remember. So I'm Breathless is technically not a studio album, but a soundtrack. Therefore it's never included when critics tally the number of albums under Madonna's belt. This has always bothered me. If a soundtrack consists of only one artist performing every track, like Prince's soundtrack to Burton's Batman, or Eurythmics soundtrack to to the film '1984', why can't it be both a "soundtrack" AND a "studio album"? I mean, these are all new recordings right? All done in a studio, right? And most the songs on Breathless fall into the "inspired" category rather than actually being featured in the film. But I stray from my point. Its a wonderful album. I suppose it could be called a 'period piece' considering 11 out of 12 tracks are heavily influenced by music of the 30's and 40's. The album didn't get the best reviews at the time, several critics sited Madonna's voice being too weak for the genre she was tackling, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I think her voice is actually very well suited for it. Sooner or Later wasn't much of anything until her performance at the Oscars - one of her most memorable (remember her date that night?) And we can't forget Vogue. One of her best songs of all time. One of the best dance tracks of all time. That song alone is worth the price tag. But you get so much more. The beautiful lament that is "Something to Remember" as well as the cheeky "Hanky Panky" (The only other song on the album to see commercial release as a single.) My personal favorites are "He's A Man" (Driving at night to this song makes you feel like a gangster) and "Back in Business" (A song I would have loved to see her perform in her one of her Dick Tracy costumes). There are some weak tracks here too, particularly the goofy "Cry baby" and the irritating "I'm going Banana's." But in general this album was solid. I wish Warner would Remaster this album and rerelease it. Please?

I luv it! I'm breathless!. This is a great album!!! I especially luv he's a man and hanky panky! Great buy!

Shows her vocals. Madonna has never been on the same level as Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey vocally, but creatively she is waaay stronger than them, these songs show her talent. Lady Gaga IS a better vocalist,i wouldn't say Madonna is better than Gaga, they are both great.I hope Gaga does a Jazz/Soul record

Madonna can sing.... When people discuss their favorite Madonna album/ cd, this one is usually left out. Maybe because people didn't take her serious and maybe just didn't listen to Breathless. Well, listen to it. Madonnas vocals are magnificent here. Sooner or later is the stand out on this one. Effortless vocals with very challenging songs. Madonna did me proud.even the goofy songs are wonderful. She had fun doing this one,and I always have fun listening.

underrated. most people do not realize that most of madonna's albums are "concept" albums, this being no exception. that being said, it's very easy to dismiss this cd as bad if you do not accept the concept. it is written and sung from the personnae of breathless mahoney, with the feel of songs from the '30s and '40s. if you accept that this is essentially the cd madonna would have made if she were around back in the '30s (except for vogue), and judge it based on what she was going for, i think you'd see how good (and rather brave) she was for making and succeeding in her attempt.

Love it ;). Love the whole album nd madonna of course :D

Underrated. Classic

underrated perfection. this album is not one that is usually thought of when people think of madonna albums. Overshadowed by the single VOGUE, the fim Dick Tracy, and the Blonde Ambition Tour, this album shows a maturity in her writing and her performance. While the Vocals are not top notch they are a force to be reckoned with. Madonna pulls off the "Torch Song" singer with much finess on tracks like Hes a Man, More, Sooner or Later, and her duet with Mandy Patinkin What Can You Lose. Yeah there are a few Throwaway tracks on here but on the whole this album should be relistened to by any Madonna fan, casual or steadfast though they may be. This was the album (along with Like a Prayer) that to me showed she was as diverse and artistic as she was provactive. This album for me is 100 time greater than the last three albums (candy shop, mdna, rebel heart).

Erotica meets Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I really love this album. It's very 40's but, the lyrics have the signature Madonna "kink." The vocals are rivaled only by Evita. It is truly impressive. (Well, it's largely impressive. I'm certainly not going banannas for Going Banannas. It's tres I Love Lucy in the worst ways possible.) -morgan

wonderful.. This is one of the reasons Madonna is such an icon -- even to this day. This was a wonderfully executed "concept album" based on the 1990 movie Dick Tracy. She does a spectacular job on the Sondheim songs, as well as the others! Best tracks include: He's a Man, Sooner or Later, Hanky Panky, Something to Remember, More, and (of course!) Vogue. I consider myself a huge Madonna fan, and I own every full-length album she's released! I'm Breathless continues to be one of my absolute favorites of all, as well as the flawless Bedtime Stories and highly underrated Erotica. Madonna, you're always #1 on my list!

Want the real Back in Buisness. Apple, please make available the real Back in Business song that was in the movie montage. It is only found on youtube at this time.

love it. i think of the movie "Annie"- when i Hear these songs. Probably it was the same era. BUt you cant help snapping your fingers and tapping your feet. Madonnas voice is powerful in these songs. Love the SWING dance/jazzy vibe!

I am a f zero. Friday, Lemmy Koopa is dead Until night, Larry Cleaned the Kitchen Wendy By the way I am not sure That Lemmy was saying Clear but he said the s word and the n word in the Hunting area at Dawnโ€™s Wendy did not Have to say the f* word You are saying the f word again

I'm Speechless. While "Vogue" was the reason most people purchased "I'm Breathless," those who did had to be impressed by what is possibly Madonna's most solid "conceptual album" ever. This is the album that proved once and for all that Madonna can sing when she wants. Three of the songs were penned by Stephen Sondheim and as any musical theater buff can tell you, Sondheim songs are among the most difficult to sing. Madonna is nearly pitch perfect on the gold-digger anthem MORE, the torch song SOONER OR LATER and the heartbreaking WHAT CAN YOU LOSE. Standout tracks that showcase Madonna's surprisingly impressive range are: HE'S A MAN, BACK IN BUSINESS, and NOW I'M FOLLOWING YOU. I'd always been a Madonna fan prior to this but this version of Madonna thoroughly impressed me. No one could make a '40's inspired tune like "Hanky Panky" a top ten hit. No one, but Madonna.

Sooner or Later You are gonna Be Mine โค๏ธ. Love this Cd. Is a Madonna portraying Marilyn Monroe mix with Marlene Dietrich. This is a movie she got mixed comments but the Soundtrack shows how Madonna play a different. Character all together. This is a must have for any Madonna hardcore fun.

I'm Breathless. I don't know why but I love this album! All the songs have a '40s and '50s beat and vibe, except for the stand-out song Vogue. My favorites are: He's A Man, a '50s-ish song with a nice mid-tempo beat about her elusive love Dick Tracy; Sooner Or Later, a beautiful ballad with great vocals by Madonna; Hanky Panky, a funny song with a great '50s about about her love of spanking; and Something To Remember, a nice, lovely ballad. I recommend you buy this album.
