45 by Jaguares

Jaguares continue with a chain of powerful albums with 45. As in 2001's Cuando la Sangre Galopa (When the Blood Gallops) and 2005's Cronicas de un Laberinto (Chronicles from a Maze), 45 takes the following pattern: first, the melodious songs with single potential and scientific sounding lyrics such as "Alquimista" (Alchemist). Then come the abstract sounds combined with the band's self-imposed mission to protest iniquity in Mexico's society (the title of the album refers to the number of mexicans, in millions, living in extreme poverty) as in "Un Mal Sueno"(A Bad Dream) and closing with frantic and psychedelic euphonies like Si Fuera Necesario (If It Was Necessary), which is almost identical to 2001's El Ultimo Planeta (The Last Planet) from their masterpice Cuando la Sangre Galopa. Although, the three albums mentioned can be easily compared, redundancy is not a problem with 45. This is an outstanding album both for fans who have enjoyed Jaguares' works during the decade and for those who like Rock en Espanol, no matter how profound its message is. ℗ 2008 El Hueso Fosforescente S.A. de C.V.
