LOVE STURGE. He's even better in person 🙌🏼

Sturgill is my co-pilot. Some days you kill it Some days you choke Some days you blast off Some days you just smoke Nuff said.

Brilliant and a breath of fresh air!!!. Not only can this man write brilliant lyrics, he also has an amazing singing voice... Doesn't matter what genre you like or he is, this is just solid and REAL soul music!

Sturgill! That is all..... What a breath of fresh air! Thank you Mr. Simpson (and the boys) for having balls and hearts. Sincerely, Johnny Martin

The Anti-Douche Country Artist. Sturgill Simpson is an actual artist. The man is a poet with an outstanding and unique voice. His guitar stylings, (while not extremely obvious in his songs with a full band backing him up), are on par with any of the legends and once people realize how truly dope this dude is, he's going down as one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time.

I am an instant fan!!. Ditto on all of the accolades that preceded my review. I don't remember ever being so immediately drawn to an artist's sound as I have been to his. Just one additional voice comparison that I haven't read yet... Keith Whitley. GREAT STUFF!!!

This is talent!!!!! Independent talent!!!!. Breakthrough music! Must buy! It's a beautiful thing when you can listen to the entire album and hit replay. Love love love😎🎸🎤

Real Country!!. Take a hint Nashville. People still like good country!!

Logan likes to SHEEEEEEEW. Sheeeeeew

Nobody better today than Sturgill Simpson. Could listen over and over - Sturgill Simpson is the real deal. Get this now so you can say you knew him before we changed country music back to its roots.

No Quarter!. This is the first Country Music album I've ever owned. Not sure there's any need in owning another.

Outlaw country finds another soldier. If you've been mourning the death of true outlaw country, cry no more and start following Sturgill Simpson, Jamey Johnson, and Shooter Jennings — the genre has found steady footing again, in spite of what today's country radio might lead you to believe. I stumbled on a video of Sturgill's “Life Ain't Fair and the World is Mean” and had to hear more. As an early effort, it's a steady offering with some great songs and worth your time to check out if you're hungry for some outlaw.

True country, we need Sturgill Simpson real bad. Fate led me to Sturgill, my new truck has satellite radio, and Outlaw Country station introduced me to this wonderful artist, and boy, just in time. I am so sick of this Country Pop that is prevalent now. It really is pathetic formulaic corny stuff, but Sturgill is the real deal and this album is full of such great songs, listening to this almost puts a tear in my eye, so soulfully sung with his great country voice, just a great throwback sound yet modern too, I love it. Hopefully this gets the attention of these Nashville folks and this style of country music will come back into the mainstream, but I'm not holding my breath. Lastly, reading in other reviews that he toured with my hero Dwight last year, really puts the stamp on it for me. I'm a huge Sturgill fan now, please don't change buddy, we need you just as you are.

True country music. Sturgill is the outlaw that the posers of Nashville wish they were. He more talent and country in his pinky finger than anyone on the radio.

Bluegrass Boy. Ya'll ain't heard the half of Sturgill's greatness. He's the real deal for sure. Saw Sturgill (Sunday Valley) many times in Lexington, Ky. Sturgill keep playing for us we need it. You'll always have my .99c. But I would pay 1.29 for a slow version of "Sarah", but name it Tiffaney this time. Just saying! I will never forget how you backed me up when I stumbled on stage and sang that song. Thanks for being cool about it. Love your music and God Speed.

Real music. Great music real country music.

Break Out Your Headphones. Get your headphones out. This album and MetaModern sounds are impeccably produced and works of art. It’s a shame that it’s been nearly 2 years since the release and it has 149 reviews. True country music.

Can he bring the old country music back???. He sounds just like Waylon and could be the Waylon of this generation. If he doesn't break out in 2014 I would be surprised. He is what the country music needs and hopefully all of the so called "country music" stars can take their hip hop crap and go some where else.

Eargasm. Absolutely amazing. It's the sound we all have been waiting for and then some.

Wonderful!. Love Sturgill Simpson! Buy all his records! Can't wait to see where he takes his music over the years.

You're an outlaw Sturgill. Keep it up

Great album!!. Keep it up Oklahomie!!

The real deal. Authentic and talented. The kind of country music that touches your soul.

Is speechless an ok review?. Good God. Thank you to USA Today for the article on best albums of 2014. I purchased both albums and have been listening to them not stop. His music is such a breath of fresh air in today’s country world. I’ve been watching his live shows on youtube. I hear so many musical influences in Sturgill’s voice and in his band’s music. It’s got some old, some new and what comes out is totally unique. I feel like I need to tell everyone about Sturgill Simpson. Thanks so much.

Awsome. Great music!

Thank you!. Thank you Mr. Simpson for giving us this record. The best country music in a very long time. Great, great music!

Ipod instead of country radio!. I live in Nashville and wish I could hear some real country like this instead of the pop country crap that makes my ears cringe! Good sounds from this album!

Excellent. A must have. True country music.

Real country music. This is what country music love Sturgill keep em coming

Lovin It All. This is great! If u like the old time country voice and true to life songs! Lovin It All!!

COUNTRY REVIVAL!!!!. I don't think people in Nashville realize how many people crave this type of traditional country!!! This pop, hip hop, auto tuned crap on "country radio" makes me sick!!! Probably why I listen to my IPOD so much and rarely listen to radio anymore.

LOVE. Moving, stirring, inspiring, sentimental, great stuff.

Awesome Album. Thanks to Joe Rogan for turning me on to Sturgill's music from his podcast. A return to great country music.

Amazing album!!!. I am blown away by this album. Every track is great and superior to other "music" out now. It's been on repeat since I bought it. Love it!!!

Love this album. Love this album I can just push play and listen to the whole thing, sturgill Simpson is the man.

amazing. seen him in Detroit, Been a fan ever since

amazingly great. This man has saved country music for me. Real country to the core.

Real Country. Lots of talent in this album. Never get tired of listening to it

True country. about time i hear some real country! tired of that bro country luke bryan crap. country Revival!

Thanks Sturgill. Excellent Country/blue grass/ southern rock!

WoW. I accidentally came across Sturgill Simpson. I've never heard of him, but I must say I agree with the previous comment, this is what country needs.!!.The country music fans have been left out in the cold without any "TRUE" country songs anymore. Everything is so fast paced, off beat, and drowned out by the, what I call, hip hop country. Sturgill Simpsons songs are stomping ground and taking country music back to its roots and reason it's called country music. Very impressed and ready to sing a country tune now. Also Chris Stapleton is awesome.

Sturgill Is the Bomb. I was transported back to my teen years, 4 wheeling, drinkin ice cold beer, listen to Waylon, Willie, Johnnie, Merle, Coe, Charlie, etc. If you like real country, you need all of Sturgill on your playlist.

Amazing. This album, and all of his albums are amazing. I can't say enough good things about his music.

Thank you for your music. Top notice artist! Excellent!

Needs a little more power and a lot more soul. Lacks the X factor along with a slight lack of power and more soul needed.

Thata Boy!. Takes me back. Thanks for the ride.

JRE. Dope

Awesome. Just plain awesome, a throwback to Waylon, Willie, and a little Cash.

Sturgill Simpson - High Top Mountain. If you like real country, buy this album! With a voice that's a cross between Waylon Jennings and Jerry Reed it is pure country with original lyrics about heartache, sorrow and pain and surviving yet is very upbeat and positive. I'm a huge fan of this guy's originality and his obvious tip-of-the-hat to the greats before him!

Savior of country music.. Do yourself a favor and pay this man.
