Donald Trump Black Version. How could they have known the presidential candidate in 1990? Now I see why they call themselves The Time, with their time travel capabilities and whatnot

The second best CD of the 90's. All of my friends were into the whole grunge scene in the 90's and I hated it. While they were dressing and listening to the whole Seattle thing I was one of the fellows that was jerking everything in sight!!!

Rock the Funk.. I can't tell you how many mix-tapes (yes tapes) I made in the 90's that had "Cooking Class" & "Skillet" sandwiched between 80's & 90's rock songs...like VH's Beautiful Girls and and GnR's Mr. Brownstone.... Great unknown album.

This album sat in my collection for 10 years. While getting ready for a long drive from Philly to Maine, I grabbed this 10 - year untouched disc from my bookshelf just to see why I didn't seem to like it. Well. That was that. It got played all the way up the coast, all week long on the coast and down the coast a week later. A truly great mix of songs. I couldn't believe how good everything was, from the between-songs chatter to the music itself. Puts a lot of other groups trying to achieve some funk to shame. Seems to be out of print in stores, so buy this here, now!! WORTH IT.

Yount!. This is a classic. Bought for 99 cents back in the 90s, didn't expect much. Love the interludes, esp cooking class " gimme a little bit of that pepper, gimme a little bit of that salt, put it in the skillet and cook it, on that stove you bought ...WE DON'T NEED NO MICROWAVE." Genius! " Yount" is also hilarious. Must have been fun to create this album. Some songs are not half bad either, especially "Jerk Out" and "Blondie."

The 90's Time. I really enjoyed this album as it was a companion to Graffiti Bridge. The whole skillet thing was about chicken grease, which referred to its Funkiness. Its the simplest way I can describe the vibe of the album in the iTunes world! But it was badass when it came out. Because it was big noise for this band to reunite with the original members. And at the height of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis late 80's, early 90's rise to success. Its got a very big Flyte Tyme sound, songs were a mix of new at the time and previously recorded Time songs Prince did with Morris and Jerome in the late 80s's, I think '88 and a couple from deep in the Prince Vault! Jerk Out was a song meant for Mazarati which was a song by Prince, produced and the whole thing, way back in the early 80's. Chocolate was also from around the Ice Cream or What Time Is it, Purple Rain period. One thing about the time, is that you know you're going to have a great Time and have fun, they dont take themselves too seriously and all the songs uplift you in someway. Harmless fun Funk that was a big effort to make something really great from all of The Time and Prince.

A Surprising Gem. Timing is everything and this album was an unfortunate victim of being released when smooth dance-able R&B was out of style. It's unfortunate, because this is a tremendously fun collection of songs. For the most part this is a smooth and sexy party album with a great flow. It's glossy and full of decadent over-production. As usual Morris Day commands your attention and Jesse Johnson's guitar screams across the slick rhythm section. File under fun and retro summer driving music.

Funktastic!. This puts the Funk back in Minneapolis. While different and more mature than the earlier work which was all written by Prince essentially, there are some real development of the Morris Day personality in songs like Skillet and Cooking Class. A handful of the tracks are old Prince demos which were written for The Time but not previously released but it was great to have them in a clean form with Morris on vocals and Jesse on guitar. Overall, totally worth it if you ever did The Bird of The Oak Tree.
