I hate this album.. It is so very un-Sufjan. I can't stand the dissonance and the endlessness of the clash-y sounds. Sorry, but this is not Stevens' best work.

Brilliant. This was actually the first Sufjan album I heard, and I had no idea what to do with it at first. I had never heard anything like it. It wasn't until years later, after I had enjoyed the rest of Sufjan's incredible discography, that I truly enjoyed my rabbit. It seems as though it still fascinates me as much as the first time I heard it; equal parts bizarre-as-all-get-out and beautiful. However, that fascination is now paired with legitimate enjoyment. What once baffled me now seems to me to be electronic music's best kept secret. And perhaps this is why the title is so perfect. Sufjan knew full well that enjoyment would not be the first reaction of the general public upon hearing the harsh, unsettlingly dissonant, otherworldly glitches of "Year of the Monkey." But when you finally get it, you enjoy your rabbit, and all the other years of the zodiac as well.

Wow lol. This album sorta reminded me of something by Radiohead, most likely Kid A or Amnesiac. Just from all the random electronic bleeps and noises and stuff like that. Sweet album though!

It's really good.. always refreshing to actually see artists branching out from their security bubbles. i like it!

L-O-V-E. I love Sufjan Stevens and think he is a modern composer genuis. Though this CD is not like his others that are more popular, I love it. He really takes modern music to a whole new level and opens up the musical mind. I love to see that a popular musician, like Stevens, would incorporate modern classical music techniques into his compositions. I am studying music at an University as my major and I give Sufjan an A+ for his earlier music like this album. Enjoy.

Meh. If you’re a fan of Sufjan Stevens, you likely will not appreciate this album. It is weird instrumental electronic stuff and it doesn’t sound like his other work at all…..

W00t. If you like sufjan's melodic compositions, you will like this.

If you are a Sufjan fan, do not listen.... This music is not Sufjan's best work, nor is it even listenable. Please avoid this CD.

A Marvel!. For anyone with a true understanding of what music is capable of, know that Sufjan has pushed and harnessed these boundaries. As a music major at the University of Utah, I would say this is one of the single most creative and well versed albums of our day. Sufjan has bridged the gap between atonal and modern popular electronic music. So fresh, and so accomplished. Thank you Sufjan for sharing your brilliant intellect with us.
