Nearly 40 years and it is still one of the VERY BEST!. Love Bill! Never been anyone better, and this was his best!
This album made my day. Saw FLIGHT and was reminded of this album from back in the day. When I found it on iTunes, it has made my day. I think this is one of the all time greatest recordings ever.
If you don't like this album..... The world hates you
A go to, feel good album.. His interaction with the audience is as good as the music. Carnegie seems to have best acoustics for live recordings and this is one of best ever! Never gets old. Just hit ya self all upside tha head with the drumstick, sho nuff shake em on down show.
Pure butter. this is about as good as it gets people
Best Live Album of all time.. Perfection...
A Classic!. Take note young people and musicians... this is what good music is all about. Sung with real power, real emotion, and in a language that everyone can easily understand. Buy the album, buy a song or two, just add some of this album's songs to your personal library. Trust me... if you haven't needed songs like these, grow a little more, and you will!
So good. So good. Made me cry. Made me happy.. Bill Withers is an all time great musician and this is an all time great concert. Great music arousing deep emotions. I listened to him and loved him when I was young. Now that I'm older I understand better what he is singing about. Do not hesitate to buy this concert album.
Memories!. Thank you iTunes for having this album available. I only had my old 8-track of this performance, but now I can have it in mp3! Right on!
Wow!!. If only I had been at this concert. These people were treated to soul and funk and Blues and just about every great aspect of american music. From start to finish this is a classic and I will steal from another reviewer when I say "if you don't need this album in your life right now, you will later". Stunning album. Stunning.
Sublime. The right recording of the right artist at the right time. Great collection of songs expertly performed and recording captures Bill Withers perfectly.
Best Soul Live Album ever recorded, as well as his best album by far!. Although his recorded albums are great, this album is by far his best, as it truly captures his emotions. I love all of Bill Wither's songs. The Use Me on this live album was far better than the recorded version. I wish they had this live version as a ringtone, because it is that good. Also, Ain't No Sunshine is better here than the recorded version. You can truly feel his emotions in all of these songs. He was the best live Soul performer we will ever have. Best live album and best album of his without question. Buy this. You won't be disappointed.
Life-changing. A recording of one of the best concerts of all time. Bill digs deep here, creating some of the best recorded versions of some of his best songs: Use Me; Grandma's Hands; For My Friend; I Can't Write Left-Handed; Lonely Town, Lonely Street. The Harlem medley that closes the album out is a serious groove. But really, every track is spectacular. This as profound and soulful as music gets. Buy it.
Live at Carnegie Hall by Bill Withers. We just lost one of the very best artists ever. This album is what live music is all about. Bill's performance at Carnegie Hall is pure joy, and a celebration of life and is as powerful now as it was when it was recorded in 1972. Bills soulful voice always calms me and is a voice we will never get tired of hearing and is truly timeless! May you rest in peace Mr. Withers.
Best Album I Own. Band is cranking, songs are classic, Bill is on fire w/ his storytelling and charisma.....a classic. A rare album you can play straight through.
Soul and funk at its finest. Before things got a little crazy and outlandish, there was Bill Withers. A true poet who would have been a professional at the art form if it were as popular as music. Taking up the guitar and utilizing his poignant, thoughtful and vivid lyrics, Withers has written at least one song that makes us feel something powerful. This live album is the best recorded show I own -- the only live album I compare it to is Built to Spill "Live" and that's a collection of songs. The emotion in Withers' voice is especially prevalent on "Hope She'll Be Happier" and "I Can't Write Left-Handed." "World Keeps Going Around" has one of the best bass lines out there and the "For My Friend" is easy to relate with if you have ever had a beef with someone you cared about. The tightness of the backing band should also be mentioned -- Withers starts the chorus early on "Use Me" and his accompanying musicians are able to keep up without missing a beat. Literally. Not to mention the aforementioned opening track contains a treat most concert-goers wished more artists would do when playing one of their hits. A must-have for anyone with musical taste!
one of my favorite albums, classic. check out I Can't Write Left Handed, sums up the after effects of the war on injured soldiers coming home
