Lucky Girl by Kirsten Proffit

Southern California singer/songwriter Kirsten Proffit's debut CD "Lucky Girl" features 12 original tracks of fresh, hook-filled rock. Proffit wrote eleven of the tracks, sings lead vocal and plays guitar on every song. Each song exhibits Proffit’s impressive ability to deliver strong and memorable melodies in distinctive pop/rock structures, reminding of early Sheryl Crow or Michelle Branch. Of special note on the album is her collaboration with Peter Malick. Malick brought an unknown Norah Jones into his band and recorded the vocalist for his "New York" album, prior to Jones’ own release of her monumental debut album "Come Away With Me" (18 million sold, 8 Grammy awards). To follow up that project, Malick enlisted Proffit’s vocal and writing help for two songs, of which “Chance & Circumstance” became the title track of his next album. Further evidence of Proffit’s immediate talents, her songs have already appeared in TV and film. She wrote and performed 4 songs for Martin Short’s film Jiminy Glick in LaLaWood, and “Something I Can’t Be” from Lucky Girl was in TV’s Friday Night Lights, Smallville, and Dawson’s Creek. Her songs have appeared in the documentary Normal People Scare Me (Joey Travolta, Producer) and in the DVD’s for Party of Five, Dawson’s Creek and Felicity. Proffit won “Best Female Artist” at the Orange County Music Awards and as well was nominated for “Best Female Acoustic Live Performer”. Lucky Girl features top L.A. musicians Bruce Witkin (Johnny Depp) on bass, Michael Lockwood (Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple), Warren Huart (Howie Day) and Jim Bacchi on guitar, Karen Teperberg and Rob Klonel on drums, and Doug Nahory (Alanis Morissette) on piano.
