Disappointing. Feel like she really missed an opportunity to be vulnerable but she over hyped herself saying that no one was going to expect it. The video plays on dated racial tropes and steals from hip hop and black culture offensively rather than honouring it like I believe she intended. One of many examples could be having many of the “bad boys” as black men with tattoos? Or describing them as hood lyrically? I also don’t understand why she has went out her way to try and change her voice to the point she sounds silly? Especially having a feature on your debut? Rather ironic not wanting to be compared to other girls at the same time yet will willingly put yourself in feature and video next to another girl for a debut?

Where do I start. I was really excited for this only for the hopes to come crashing down. Jesy and her team really played on everything. It seems to be a popular thing for the “not so famous” members of a group to duet with famous ppl to hype their music up… Music video is absolute trash. Playing on black appropriation from the “excessive tan” her faves are calling it now - to the (I believe it’s called) box braids. I felt the embarrassment seep through me of why a white woman is doing this… I also just found out that the music video was directed by herself so what’s more to say 😬 “So hood, so good, so damn taboo”. Please excuse me whilst I throw up my dinner. I can’t even.
