Eye Opening. I only knew Demi's music from the power vocal pop songs over the years. This was completely different but so much more powerful for me. I didn't know her story before, but as I listened to the album it told me the story very clearly. Normally I attach to the musical hooks and beat, but with this album I was riveted to the lyrics. I couldn't wait to hear the next song. The best music sometimes comes from adversity and heartache as artists express raw emotion. We've seen this recently with Avril Lavigne, Adele and now Demi. I hope this album steers other new artists away from destructive influences that tear down so many young stars.

She did lyrically phenomenal.. This album embodies everything Lovato has went through and she doesn’t hold back. The lyricism is authentic and real. The production is quite diverse and cohesive. The only criticism is that the producers stripped away a lot of her emotion that her previous albums had. She sounds amazing but it lacks a bit of emotion in the second half of the album. Overall it’s great but please less auto tune and don’t wash away the emotion in her voice producers and mixers.

Honestly.... This album is vocally on point, no denying that Demi has an amazing voice. Let me get this out of the way, I am not hating on Demi Lovato or anything she has done lyrically or vocally. The melody, sounds of the songs are what I am coming after. A lot of the songs sound the same to be honest. There are a few songs that stand out (DWTD, Melon Cake, Girlfriends are my Boyfriends, Easy, Anyone just to name a few). The rest just sound like the new modern mainstream pop genre. For Demi Lovato fans, this album is DEFINITELY for you. As for me, it may grow on me.

Understand This. This album isn’t just about a drug addiction. It’s not a ploy to prop Demi’s career by way of using drugs as it’s influence. This album is about Demi. A person who has been through way too much for only being 30 years old. Though some of circumstances are unfortunate we hear how they understand they’ve made mistakes. Gone back on things they’ve said. Made a fool of oneself. Falling victim to drugs and repeated patterns. Demi literally fell inside while rising to fame on the outside. They’re not perfect but they also understand that’s okay. Life isn’t about being perfect, it’s about living. For yourself, and then for others when you, yourself, are taken care of. No one is going to come and rescue you… and you’re going to make mistakes and that’s all okay. The strength is takes to allow yourself to see your flaws, accept them and try to improve. It’s not hard being a good person, it’s hard fighting your fears and demons in order to be a good person. We’re all trying. This album was beautifully curated. Every track takes you further into their journey and I can appreciate that Demi isn’t perfect but they’re worth it. Some of you missed their message and their point. People come, people go but as long as you love yourself. That’s all that matters. The rest will fall in place.

Pretty charming album.. Most of the songs on this album are lovely. Three of four of the songs are generic and boring, and the “Mad World” cover, while I appreciate Demi’s vocals on it, doesn’t stand out. I do recommend this album and I respect Demi’s intentions with it. The only songs that bore me are “Easy”, “15 Minutes”, “Good Place”, and “Carefully”. The rest are charming!

Ethereal and Cathartic Masterpiece. Her best project she’s ever released. You can feel her soul is in this album. Because of the growth and recovery she’s worked on these past 4 years since Miracle Day in 2018, she’s in her best state of mine and we should all support her journey. California Sober really means a lot to her and is definitely one of her best released.

Too bad. While it reflects her latest life challenges it certainly doesn’t translate well into music.

Exceptional. This album is beyond anything I could’ve ever expected. From the first track to the last, each song is a masterpiece. The album combines talent from painful ballads (anyone, the way you don’t look at me, easy) to upbeat pop hits (met him last night, the art of starting over, girlfriends are my boyfriend) to make the most exceptional tracklist I have ever listened to. From start to finish, you get the story of Demi’s life over the past couple of years, from the heartbreaking last days before her overdose, with the song ‘anyone’, to her rebirthing and finding her feet (california sober and the art of starting over). Each song tells a very different tale of an aspect of Demi’s life that somehow interlinks with every other one on the album to create a story that generates heartbreaking emotion and genuine happiness. The vocals are another masterpiece within themselves, Demi has never sounded so effortlessly talented and strong - her voice is on a whole other level within this album and this can especially be seen within the live performances added onto the deluxe edition. Another thing to mention are the stunning lyrics written within Dancing with the devil The art of starting over. Lyrics such as: “romeo has no sequel”, “pulled leather over my eyes in a hundred-degree heat” and “I talk to shooting stars but they always get it wrong”. This whole album is insane, I have had it on repeat the moment it was released and will continue to do so. I recommend buying this 100% - you won’t regret a second of it.

RUBBISH. Absolute waste of money, worst album i’ve heard in a long time

Very bad. Unfortunately there is just so so so much auto tune and synth over these songs. Really ruins it, shows she needs to rely on technology to sound good. Also see how they have reduced the price to £4.99 just days after release. Shows just how desperate she is to get a number 1 coz she knows she won’t be able to do it with the standard new release prices.
