Dylan is always great!. While some of the negative criticism is true. The review entitled "another cash cow" can lick my taint! Any individual who rates Dylan that low must enjoy the work of the eagles.

Nicholas Cage. Nicholas Cage is on the cover of this album. That is all.

Loved Self Portrait then - Love it More Now.. Amazing how much great material never made the original album. Another Self Portrait is Dylan, Al Kooper, Dave Bromberg and sometimes George Harrison making beautiful music together. Blame the bad reviews on the original SP on the producer who added strings, backup singers, etc... Stripped down... This is a great album and shows us who Bob was going to become in later years.....

Mr. dylan try's to share. Most fans were waiting for new material from their prophet/poet back in 1970. They were taken by surprise, the album did not get favorable reviews, some said it was his worst album to date at that time. I think they all misunderstood Mr. Dylan's intensions completely. Instead he just wanted to get back into the grove of making music again by sharing with us the music he loved past and present, by him and covering others that he admired and loved. This is a very intimate album, listen to it like you've been invited into the artist's living room to hear his favorite records and see him perhaps have a try at really entertaining you, just for fun. Go into it with that frame of mind and I think you'll enjoy and better understand your hero. I love it and will always, it gets played as often as any Dylan album in my collection.

Some great stuff. It's too bad that he didn't put these versions on the original album. He would have avoided much ridicule.
