Pretty bad.... Ok, I really wanted to love this revival and soundtrack, but sadly, I do not. In fact, I don't even like it. I agree that Elena Roger brings an authenticity to the production, with her Argentinian accent. But, Eva Peron was a powerful woman, as presented in the lyrics and music of Evita. Her strength was also present in the vocals of Patti LuPone and Elaine Paige during their Eva Peron performances on Broadway and in London. Roger's vocals lack both strength and range, including the range required to reach the notes in many of Evita's songs! She did, however, bring a great energy to the stage during her numbers! Too bad the soundtrack doesn't show the dancing?!?! ;) Now, on to Ricky Martin. I generally enjoy Martin's music, but I despise his performance as Che, both vocally on the soundtrack and acting/vocally on stage! He brought nothing to Evita, other than his good looks. I can go on and on about how much he was miscast as Che, but I won't. Lol To sum it up, I do not recommend purchasing this recording! Spend your $ on the Original London and Broadway Cast Recordings instead!

Wonderful!!!!. Elena Roger is a wonderful Eva Peron!

Ugh!. I used to think Antonio Banderas was an actor who couldn't sing, but after listening to a singer (Ricky Martin) who can't sing OR act, I have a newfound respect for Antonio! This album makes me long for Antonio and Madonna (though Pantinkin and LuPone are still tops)! I always dreamed someone would revive Evita on Broadway so I could see it in person, but this is a disappointment I have no desire to see.

Adriana from Real Housewives Miami as EVA!. Elena Rogers' voice is like a screeching harpy who gnaws out every word (at least the words you can understand.) I was raised on the cast recording of Patti Lupone spitting the lyrics & chewing the scenery like a she-wolf. Rogers is more like a mewling cub. For as much authenticity Rogers' dialect has, Ricky Martin has zero. He's all-WASP'ed out. Ah well, there's always the Original Cast Recording.

Fantastic!. Wonderful! Elena Roger's voice flavors the score with authenticity. People who don't appreciate her performance are too used to a Westernized version of an Argentinean story. This show must be seen live to be fully appreciated. It is a triple threat Broadway hit combining the arts of cinema through archival footage, a wonderful score, and expertly synchronized dancing. Both Elena and Ricky are perfect.
