A Standout Collection By A Rising Acoustic Star. I can’t recommend this EP strongly enough. One radio station, who ranked this the #2 album of 2009, agrees. The songs are all infused with a depth of feeling that will keep them in your head long after you turn off you iPod. If you want to hear a new, unique and intelligent musical voice, you will love this EP. Joey doesn’t have an ounce of pretension. To listen to his music is to know his heart. Some standouts on this EP: “Broken Headlights” A gorgeous, layered song with a beautiful melody, poetic lyrics and a soaring harmony by Sara Bareilles. But the song is much more than that. On the surface, it’s about a rainstorm in L.A. after a long dry spell, but under the surface, it’s about a man aching to spill his feelings to his girlfriend after holding them in for too long. “It’s gonna come pouring down/it’s gonna come pouring out/ I’m gonna say everything.” The bass drum beat sounds like approaching thunder, and the guitar notes sound like raindrops falling. An instant classic. “Permanent” Another beautiful song, with harmony by Z Berg. Joey sings about how happiness with material possessions is fleeting; only love is permanent. “Everybody loves something new/ cause you can open it and plug it in/and it feels like a good night’s sleep/ like a girl you like paid you a compliment. . . but I’m still looking for something a little more permanent.” “Queen Jane” Joey, a Los Angeles native, sings about spending weeks in England, without a moment of sunshine, and how glad he is to be going home. “Sometimes you think you need something new/ then you get it and it’s just not the same/Goodbye, Rain/ Goodbye Queen Jane.” Joey’s longing to be home is a great companion piece to his ode to his home, “California,” ranked by the NY Post as the #7 song of 2009, also available on iTunes.

Talented and Gifted Musician. I met Joey and Jay Nash while sitting on the lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower this summer. We saw they had a guitar and spoke English so we were intrigued. We talked and convinced them to play some songs for us, and I have to admit we were all blown away. They are both talented musicians, song-writers, and great people. I wish you the best Joey.

Kenter Canyon. "Kenter Canyon" is an album which is sure to warm your heart. Joey Ryan has a unique voice that lends character to the beautifully written lyrics that are based on discovery and that which is most important about life. Joey is an adventurer with a loyal heart. His lyrics are driven by a desire to explore new territory, but his adventures always lead him back to that which is true. The songs on this ep are a tapestry of beautifully woven words which are delicately placed among complimentary musical compositions. This ep is a must have addition to any music lover's collection. Having known Joey for quite some time, I can genuinely say that he has really developed into a pioneer in the music world.

His best release yet !!. I've been following Joey and his music for almost 7 years now, all the way back to his humble beginnings in Berkeley, CA. This is my favorite of his releases yet, and is a huge step forward in terms of both songwriting, performance, and production quality. The record sounds great and the songs stick with you from the first time you hear them. Although he may have mass appeal with fans of the L.A. Singer-Songwriter scene/genre, I believe Joey's music is a cut above. I've heard some great artists come out of the Hotel Cafe, but to my ears, Joey is a clear stand out. His voice is unique and his songwriting perspective is one of a kind. Definitely going to remain as one of my favorite releases of 2010. Check out Walls Come Down. It just builds and builds and eventually blows your mind towards the end. But don't take my word for it.

BUY THIS ALBUM!. I've been following Joey for the past couple years and I can honestly say this is my favorite EP yet! I've been fortunate enough to hear all of these tracks live several times but couldn't wait for the day that I could put them on my ipod- it's here! Broken Headlights is one of my favorite songs EVER! Just beautiful. I can't say enough good things about Joey or this album.
