Clever, catchy, mature. ... These Streets was good, but an artist has to move on. Sunny Side Up is very different, and so much more heartfelt and genuine. Take it or leave it. I love it. Great diversity of sounds. Unique artist. Great listen. Congrats Paolo.

paolo nutini's music is magic. when i heard his first album, i feel in love because the lyrics were more than just words, they created a story, and the beats were maginifecent. his new album "sunny side up" is just as amazing. although it doesn't have the same concept of "these streets" (which honestly i like better), it still is one of my favorite albums of 2009 and candy is one of his best songs. AMAZING

Sophomore Slump. I own the album as well as his debut, so I'm reviewing it having actually listened to it (3x, to be precise). Nutini's debut was a solid, pop-rock affair (3.5 stars, by my count)...promising for a debut effort if not a little long on balladry ("Jenny Don't Be Hasty" & "Autumn Leaves" stand out for me). Sunny Side Up is a wildly erratic affair. It's as if he wrote 12 songs and then wrote down the names of 12 different music styles, paired them with songs, and went into the studio. There's clearly versatility here, but at the expense of believability. I give him credit for being adventurous, but the risk, in my opinion, fails almost across the board. I would have preferred, at most, 3 well thought out covers if his desire for homage was so great. "10/10" is a ska/rock steady send up that sounds forced (look to Finley Quaye's "Your Love Gets Sweeter" for how to do it right). "Candy" alludes to his former musical inclinations, but with lyrics written as if "for a single." "No Other Way" is the old school r&b/soul crooner (ala Otis Redding) and, to his credit, Nutini almost pulls it off, but ultimately the tone of his voice sells it short. At the end of the day there's too much going on here for any cohesive quality to shine through, which is unfortunate. I don't doubt that some will love it, but every album on iTunes can't be great (and I believe this is one them...and I like his first album).

Too scottish sounding. these streets was a much better album than this one. He delivered better melody and stripped down music...this is one sound likes a scottish folk singer

amazing albulm. Paolo is one of the greatest artist of our time with his openness to of incorporating different cultures of music for this album. I appreciate his mature style with his scottish flare which makes this album melt together beautifully. Ammazing!!!
