Awesome!. “I Remember” is such a great song!

Finely Executed Dance/Trance. With Random Album Title (RAT), Deadmau5 proves that he can make a finely-produced, coordinated album as well as rock the dance floor. The cohesiveness of the album is next only to 4x4=12, and the songs collected onto RAT are some of his best. Sometimes Things Get, Whatever is the perfect launch pad for the album, showing Joel's skill with both creating finely-tuned sounds as well as mixing dance with hints of trance. Complications is a progression of the first track, mixing in a heavier dose of sound production and impeccable rhythm. Definitely one of the top three tracks on the album, and one of Joel's greatest songs. Slip is a nice, refreshing track after digesting the heaviness of the first two tracks, and its "slippery" main hook is a very well executed, if eventually tiring, piece of sound production. Some Kind of Blue is one of the albums most atmospheric pieces, with reverberating beats and reversed melodies. It's one of the songs that you truly have to trance to, to get inside, to appreciate, else you might get bored after the first three minutes. Brazil (2nd Edit) is a very syrupy sweet track, and is the second most uplifting track of the album. A very well done trance song, yet it's as long as it needs to be. Alone With You is also a stunner, acting as the album's best trance track. Once you get inside this song, you'll never want to leave. I Remember is the album's hit single, and while there are a lot of things I like about it- the rhythm and beat, as well as the vocals and melody- are what also deter me... this song simply gets old after about four minutes, five when I feel generous. It's obviously more geared toward the dance floor, but on an album, it simply acts as more house music than anything. Moving on. Faxing Berlin (Piano Acoustic Version) is simply delightful, and is very memorable considering how short it is. I'll have to place it in the top three just for loveliness and fantastic writing alone. The shorter, 4-minute version of Faxing Berlin, however, is not up to the calibre of the original, almost 9 minute recording- however, few dance songs in general even come close to the brilliance of that track, so it could be considered a good pocket-sized, condensed version of the original. [Side Note: What I would like to see would be the 9 minute recording and the acoustic-piano version fused together. Whether this would be amazing or too mind-numbingly long remains to be seen.] Not Exactly is one of the top three of the album, perfecting Joel's heavy mix of trance with house music. Arguru is an amazing piece, titled in honor of a passed dance and electronic music innovator from across the seas. The most uplifting track, the timing and build-ups of the song are excellent. It's definitely a runner up to my top three. So There I Was is an excellent wind-down track, helping you to ease of the powerful beats and drones of the album's past tracks. A very slow, hard-hitting track in the beginning turns into a lighter progression of beats, waning you of the album's heaviness. A fitting closing track for the album. All in all, Joel manages to create a very subtle yet mind-tracing album of trance and house beats on RAT that can be opted to the dance floor with ease, and the balance of both heavy and light tracks helps to keep the album rolling. An excellent album worth buying if your new to his style, or for experienced lovers of trance. Buy it now.
