Great songs from synth pop icons. All the eras of Dep Mode are well represented, showcasing their incredible careers and breadth of styles and skill. Their evolution from dark, brooding simple pop songs to dark, even more brooding complex pop songs is remarkable. I saw them twice this year, once indoors and once outdoors, and they have not lost a step. get this album if you seek thoughtful lyrics woven into great beats and melodies.

Almost there.... Can't really consider this a "Best of" album without The Policy of Truth on it. =(

Released before?. Hmmm, what can I say...I am a great Depeche Mode fan ever since....This is a great collection of there greatest hits and a good start for anyone who like Depeche Mode. I love electronic music in general...beside DM I listen to songs like Contest by Liedschatten or tracks from the album Balearic House Map or even Deepest Shades Of House. All in all great music!!

With and without Alan. If anything this collection highlights the quality of the Alan Wilder era songs and the weaker singles (Suffer Well. Precious, etc) post-Alan. This collection illustrates how Alan gave DM a progressive unique sound, while the newer stuff is guitar driven and mediocre. On the other hand Dave's vocals have improved over time and is more expressive than in the earlier music. Martin's guitar playing remains weak (sorry Martin!!!) and ultimately distracts. Fletcher?? Who knows what he does, but he did it better in the 80s and early 90s. Martin writes great songs and lyrics, but those songs need Alan's touch to fulfill their potential. Alan completes the circle.
