CLASSIC!!!. Great album! Day Dreamin with Jill Scott is my favorite Lupe track to this day! He quickly climbed the latter as one of my favorite artists when he came out with this album. Kick, Push, Kick Push!!!

Refreshing.. Is it me or is the best hip hop coming out of Chicago right now?

Wow. What is there to say about this album? Another Chicago rapper that is going to make it big. Kick, Push and Kick, Push II are probably the two best songs on this album. What rapper talks about skating the way Lupe? This is a definate buy for anyone that likes any kind of music.

I didn't know what to expect.... I know it's tough after some heavy singles to have a whole album that pleases; particularly from a debut artist. and i'm a hater. This album is ridiculous. a VERY strong debut from a talented brother with conscious lyricism (aight now i know people hate that term, including myself, but it perfectly would describe lyrics that are alive, and awake, as opposed to be seemingly in a daze, lemming-like following whatever the current $$ making trend is) If i had to liken it to anyone else out in the mainstream it def would be kanye--the cat who's kinda on his own thing, but to his credit, lyrically lupe takes it a step further--he seems not to care about "cool points" (although props to kanye for calling his own self-consciousness out!) and goes for his, on all sorts of topics, from fatherless children to (of course) the loner skaters, to political and some spiritual talk (i *think* he's coming from an HTM bent). That stuff that most human beings can relate to. I don't throw on an album, being the in debt human being dealing with wife and kids and peer pressure (yeah as a grown man too) to hear some cat talk about how much they have. I want to hear a cat that sound like they are with me in the struggle. This is one of those cats. And i didn't even mention that the production is top notch, and, while being predominately catchy, doesn't follow the norm. It's cleanly produced without being cookie cutter. Just what you would be expecting after hearing the singles (although perhaps not sure if it could be done). I mean it is ridiculous. Just listen to the samples. I've had a chance to listen to this album several, several times over the past few days, playing it out at shows etc. I was rolling with my boy and he mentioned something that made me rethink a 5 star, and so i'm bumping to 4.5 -- on several tracks, his flow is VERY MUCH like that of jay-z...now granted, jay-z sounded a bit like jaz-o back in the day and he then came into his own...so Lupe definitely will, as long as he doesn't get chewed & spit out by The Game, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he has very dope lyrics... choice tracks: He Say She Say (EXCELLENT track about a fatherless boy, well executed), "I Gotcha" (of course:), "Kick Push" (of course), and one of the best hip hop tracks to come out in a long time period, "Just Might Be O.K.".
