The Kind of Girl I Could Love/Monkees. Mike Nesmith's talent as a composer gives the listener a complete emotional experience this way too short(as were almost all way back then in the 60's) pop/rock/country tune. Other songs by Nesmith also deliver the same completeness, a true pop genius. I wish he would decide to do the world a favor and record again!!

Monkees' Debut Is Awesome!!. If your wanting more than just a greatest hits album, this is the one! This self-titled release is one of most important nostalgic recordings from my chilhood! Still have the vinyl! It has everything from great pop songs to the sappy, but essential, Davey Jones songs, from the quintessential theme song from the show to the goofy 'Gonna Buy Me A Dog'. This album is by far my fave! Can't beat it with extras as well!

Listen to the Mike Mesmith tunes they are great!. Yeah eveyone has heard the Last train to clarksville and Saturday's Child. But one listen to the Mike Nesmith tunes and you'll know where the talent lied, yes some are country in sounding and a they are small in length, but hey give the guy credit, he was up against Boyce and Hart as well as Carol King and Neil Diamond! not to mention "The Birds" and other acts of the time, and I would have to say he held his own, for what he was doing. I only give three stars for Im gonna buy me a dog and I wanna be free.

Beatles Monkees. They sound good, but every time I hear their songs, I can't stop thinking, "copy cats" they look and sound like the beatles. They even sort of stole the band name.

Great Album. As the review says, The Monkees only provided vocals on this album, although Mike wrote a couple of the songs. Later albums featured more involvment from the members but this album still remains an entertaining listen.
