Leave this one until last.... This is a collection of tracks from the mid/late 1970s when Prince (before he was famous) was hired as a session musician to play on an album for the then up-and-coming Minneapolis act, 94 East. The album/band never really went anywhere, however once Prince gained international fame in the 1980s, the owners of these unreleased recordings released them without Prince's consent in an effort to 'cash in' on the purple pie. They have since been re-released umpteen times under various labels and titles, usually labelled with some tripe like "the historic recordings", or "the secret sessions" that make it sound a lot better that it actually is. This release just happens to be the latest re-release it seems. If you're expecting to hear some really funky earthy purple jams, then you will be dissapointed. What you will find is a bunch of average-at-best dated lite funk/pop numbers that just happen to have Prince playing along in the background. He rarely takes any significant solos, nor does he sing on any of the tracks. In other words, it's interesting from a historical point of view, but hardly something you will listen to regularly for pleasure.
