a must have, if you have ears.. This Holiday Life has been one of my very favorite bands for years now, my first cd ever bought by them was their EP, "The Fallout", the one sold through iTunes. I'm not recommending you purchase this album because i think it contains beautiful lyrics and incredible music, no. I'm not writing this review to compliment the band and how much i adore them. I'm writing this review solely so that you may see what i see in this band, and purchase this album. Song like "Motions" and "Photographs" just put me in a good mood, and though i may be biased due to the slight obsession i have for this music, the fact that you will love this cd is something i can guarantee. also, keep a look out on iTunes for their new cd, "The Beginning of the End of the World"!!
T.H.L. signed my converes shoe! @ school. I love this band and it's really cool to here them here on the itunes page because guess what.....THEY PLAYED AT MY SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!! Thats sooooooo wayyyyyyy COOOOOOOOLLLLL dudes, and dudets!
a must have. I can't put into words how talented this band is. They're extremely underrated and don't get half the publicity they should. If you've never heard them before, I suppose you could compare them to something like Switchfoot, but mellower: Switchfoot meets Daves Matthews Band with a unique, indieish edge if you will. This CD was superb. The vocals are rich and soothing, but there's variety between the songs. The instrumentals are also excellent. And the lyrics are extremely heartfelt and actually get you thinking. Some of my initial favorites were the faster paced Don't Stand Up and Two Years Underground. Another I really enjoyed was the hauntingly beautiful Aeroplanes. I strpngly reccomend this!
WORTH BUYING. Almost al the songs on this CD are pretty good. THere are some that aren't that good. But, the othe rones are so good, it makes up for it.BUY THIS CD!!!
San Diego City Beat Review. “Friction is all about weepy guitar-and-keyboard atmospherics and hooks that sneak up on you, lazing about as This Holiday Life likes to let them do. In not shying away from the straight-forward, the band has created an unflappably spot-on album.”
