The Script NEVER FAILS!. This album is definitely worth the 5 stars, if I could make it 100 stars I WOULD (NO KIDDING I'M SERIOUS). Hands down one of the best The Script album. Such a masterpiece. The first time I heard “Rain” I was so disappointed, but as I tried to listen to it a few more times, it just dawned to me how great the song really is. When the whole album dropped, I listened to it from start to finish and I was speechless.. The songs are kinda different from what The Script used to create, but man.. this album is just so good.... I like all of its songs, there's nothing that I skip. When I listen to it for the first time I was like back in the very first moment I got hooked to this band. Massive love The Script! Keep on doing great!

Terrific band but. this record is not even quality light pop. My bet is that the bitter taste of the response to this album will get these Dublin boys back on their horses and back to hits that stand apart.

A nice change of pace. Freedom Child is the Script’s fifth album but it is the first time that the Script has made a significant change to their initial sound from their debut album. While other bands from a similar genre like OneRepublic have continued to redefine themselves with each album, the Script has remained relatively static, continuing to push out new songs that felt fresh but continued to sound like the Script’s original sound. Freedom Child has very few songs that feel as if they could be off previous albums. Instead, The Script tried to redefine their sound while trying to attach a political message to the lyrics, and, on this album, a lot of times it worked but sometimes it didn’t. Overall, while this was not my favorite album by the Script (but still a great album), it was refreshing to hear something new. No Man Is An Island (9/10) – Not knowing how different this album would be, this song caught me off guard with the opening bass line but overall the song remains true to the Script’s initial sound while still having a fresh take. Strong opener. Rain (8/10) – Good single and is a new take on The Script sound. It’s poppy and a little unoriginal, sounding like a combination of Ed Sheeran and OneRepublic, but it’s still a solid song. Arms Open (9/10) – This is one of the few songs that sounds like the original Script. It starts out slow but builds up to a classic Script song. I think this song was left here for hardcore fans who might be disappointed by a change in sound and a nostalgic feel for the rest. Rock the World (10/10) – This feels like The Script’s attempt at another Hall of Fame and it actually works really well. With an anthem-like catchy chorus, the song is one of the best off the album and encapsulates the new vibe that The Script was aiming for. Mad Love (3/10) – This song really did not work for me. The entire song sounded bland and generic with no real instrumentation. In addition, the lyrics were relatively cheesy like “I’m your great white, you’re the piranha.” Deliverance (7.5/10) – This song has relatively few instruments and feels like a more electronic song on the record. It’s a decent song after a few listens, but I hope The Script does not abandon instruments entirely in the future. Divided States of America (6.5/10) – Definitely the most political song on the album. While the message is nice, the song feels a little forced, like they wrote the lyrics before strapping on the instrumentals. It’s okay but not as good as it could have been. Wonders (5/10) – This song is really disappointing because, while the verse and pre-chorus are fantastic and excellent builds into the chorus, the chorus sounds very rushed including lots of autotuned and does not work. Love Not Lovers (6.5/10) – This song sounds like an attempt to push for a more poppy song even like the Chainsmokers, and it’s relatively catchy, it also a little generic. The lyrics also fall into cheesy territory like where it talks about “swiping left on Tinder.” Eden (8/10) – One of the happier more upbeat sounding songs on the album. It’s definitely one of the more poppy songs, but it’s actually a pretty good song. Make Up (9/10) – I really love the lyrics of this song, which talk about the life of a transgender woman changing into a man. The song is slower, but the lyrics drive the song emotionally. Written in the Scars (8/10) – Another good single. The only downside of the song was I was kind of hoping it would build to a louder, more punchy chorus, but it stayed relatively the same throughout the song. Awakening NA Freedom Child (8/10) – This is clearly one of the more political messages on the album. The song has a great anthem chorus. While the verses feel a little weaker than its chorus, the song is still a great closer to the album. Overall, Freedom Child is a good album and a successful attempt at redefining their sound. While it’s not the best album they’ve pulled out to date, it definitely feels like a Script-quality album. While some songs are better than others, the only songs I skip are Mad Love and Wonders, with the rest having great or at least redeeming qualities.

Lost their way. The Script now sounds like any pop band from America.

Disappointed,. Very disappointed they got caught up in the commercial pop garbage. Their first few albums were killer and songs that I'll play for decades. This album however is just not them. I'm very much hoping they go back to their roots and fade fade away.

Amazing!!!. I've been a huge Script fan since 2008 and they never fail to deliver with their new albums. This one is no different. Wonderful music and fantastic lyrics. Love it!!

Changed. Their past albums have been incredible but not this one. Completely changed their music to pop bs, so frustrating

The opposite of evolution.. UPDATED; There are remnants of the Script of old, but it's hard to find it underneath the commercialised pop style they've slowly delved into in recent albums. Based on the failure of this album in comparison to previous ones, perhaps it's time to go back to their roots and embrace them.

Can't Wait!!!!!!1. I'm so excited! I've always loved The Script since I was younger and now they are finally releasing a new album!!!!!!!!! I'M GONNA DIE I KNOW IT!
