I love dark chocolate as bitter as it is. This albums is almost nearly perfect, but having been waiting for so many songs from the British album to be sung by borle, only to have them vanish, left me underwhelmed. The lack of an Oompa Loompa song for violet was also disheartening. I can understand the reasoning of putting pure imagination in the middle, but as a penultimate song it was very charming. Certain lyrical changes to strike that, reverse it made the titular saying make no sense at all. And finally, the rather gorey description of Verucas limbs breaking was unsettling. All that aside, Im quite a fan of the now Russian salts. The use of candy man to set the story in motion, verses almost nearly perfect from the British play is fun, and it seems more important then it's usage in the film. Squeezing the original Oompa Loompa theme into the Augustus and Veruca songs was clever and felt natural. I'm glad they kept in a version of "if your father was here" but the lack of his father in the play gave it a sadder feeling, even with the addition of the most upbeat ballad shaker I've ever heard. This is just from the soundtrack though. Given the chance, I'd still see this show, as much as I would want to see the west end production as well.

When Veruca says. I really like the song “ when Veruca says “ but I’m always cut off and can finish listening to it. 😣 😔 😠

Oof. This was a massive disappointment. Now I discovered this album before the London one. I always thought how could anything beat this. But then I listened to it and it blew this one out of the water. The only real saving graces of this recording are Christian Borle and his rendition of Pure Imagination. Aside from that everything feels scaled down with the orchestration not even coming close to that of London,(compare the two versions of It Must Be Believed to be Seen if you don’t believe me), also just other big things like the complete absence of Violets’ Oompa Loompa song and the gory death of Veruca Salt. Overall it was fine but this particular chocolate bar tasted less of Pure Imagination and more of Snozzcumber ripoff.

Amazing!. Way better than the London Album. I would but more stars if I could.

Oompa Loompa Doompa Dee Do, I've got an awesome album for you!. This show is absolutely incredible! I saw it May 30th and it lived up to expections from being a fan of the London production (who's album I also reccomend you check out as well as this one) This album truly has, I gaurentee, at least one song you will enjoy (If not allo of them!) From the classics ; The Candy Man, I've Got a Golden Ticket, Oompa Loompa, and Pure imagination; to new favorites (some of my personal ones are the darkly humerus "Auf Wiedersehn Augustus Gloop," to the party style "When Willy Met Oompa," and the nightmarish "Veruca's Nutracker Sweet." Jackie Hoffman gives a standout preformance as Mrs. Teavee with her hilariously satirical song "What Could Possibly Go Wrong?" F. Michael Haynie is grossly hysterical as Augustus Gloop with his song "More of Him To Love," along with his mother equally hysterically portrayed by Kathy Fitzgerald. And of course the mad genious himself (Mr. Christian Borle) beautifuly sings he showstopping finale "The Veiw From Here," Along with Charlie (adorably portrayed by three different boys on alternting on different tracks) [Jake Ryan Flynn, Ryan Sell, & Ryan Foust] To make a long story short please purchase this album... but it must be believed to be heard
