Deep Purple's best album.. Deep Purple at their best. No weak songs. Jon Lord really shines on this, especially on Highway Star and Lazy. Every band member shines on this. I think Blackmore's solo on Smoke On The Water is his best. Pictures of Home is another album highlight. I like all of the photos of the band. Blackmore really looks miserable, doesn't he? I also think it's the coolest he has ever looked. That stubble look was a good one for him. Back to the music, five of these seven songs are in my top ten for favorite Deep Purple songs. This album is a must have.

Machine Head 1972. Machine Head, perhaps DP's most known album,is almost like a Greatest Hits colllection. All the songs are strong but honestly I don't want to hear Smoke On the Water ever again. 9.5/10
