Wonderful by Rick James

'Wonderful' is the tenth studio album by American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rick James. The album was released by Reprise Records on June 13, 1988. Produced by Rick himself. The album contains the US R&B #1 hit single "Loosey's Rap" (ft. Roxanne Shanté) and fairly successful single "Sexual Luv Affair". The album peaked at #148 Billboard 200. The music video for "Loosey's Rap" was banned from TV due to it being deemed too inappropriate and sexually suggestive during the 80's AIDS/HIV Epidemic (similar situation as "I Want Your Sex" by George Michael). The video featured women playing in the bathroom, shaving, cutting hair and flaunting their beauty as Rick played a bass guitar on a stage with a female backing act of sorts. The forgotten music video for "Wonderful" has a fever dream like aesthetic with Rick draped out in the flamboyant floral suit with curly hair (the look from the album cover). Then during the middle part of the video Rick is seen wearing something that a "stereotypical traveller" might wear, then to execute the coolest guitar solo on the album Rick pulls out a comically large guitar with a body that is smaller than Rick's hand. ℗ 1988 Reprise Records.
