RIP Whitney. The performance did not move me

Good Enough for Whitney!. Jennifer sang this to Whitney at the BET honors show and Whitney was at the front of the stage LIVING for Jennifer. Afterwords, Whitney brought her backstage and told her she was handing her the torch, the same way Aretha did to Whitney. Whitney loved Jennifer's version, she told her no one has sung the song like that except her, so all the haters can know they are hating on behalf of no one but themselves!

Know the facts!. This is a very moving rendition of a song that has been done good (Dolly Parton original) and great (Whitney) in the past. Jennifer put her own spin on it and used her strengths, instead of trying to simply emulate Whitney. And for those taking this opportunity to trash the "commercialism" or opportunistic nature of this release…ALL PROCEEDS GO TO CHARITY! Every cent is donated to MusiCares. It says that right at the very top of the "iTunes Notes".

WOW!. I think it is ridiculous how people get wrapped around the axis about how "No can sing it like Whitney" when this song is actually a Dolly Parton original. Everyone who has sung, or ever will sing, this song used the ranges and pitches that fit their voice best, but the message converyed will always be the same..."I will always love you". That is truely what makes a song GREAT. So, the kuddos actually goes to Dolly.

jen was amazingg. RIP Whitney .. its amazing how much ppl got to say but she did an outstanding job ..

Worst person picked to sing this song!. There is way better talent in the rest of the world than this!

Good. She did good under the circumstances. Do ppl come on these things just to criticize and hate

Didn't cut it. I am a J. Hudson fan but I think this was horrible. Her voice was way to rough and she did not do the song any justice. I hate to say this in light of all that has happened and appreciate her efforts but the bottom line is every singer is not meant to sing every song!

Horrible. How dare they compare her to Whitney Houston, this is embarrassing someone who sings on weight watchers commercials! Who ever bought this is an idiot waste of money thank god I didn't waste my 99 cents because it should be free

Ms. Whitney. Her voice will never be replicated. The original version of this song needs to be put up on the top shelf and left alone. Sorry Ms. Hudson. Buy this version ONLY if you want to do a good thing, as most of the $$ goes to charity.

She Is Amazing!. Jennifer Hudson is such a great person to sing this song for Whitney, also this song will touch you! VERY EMOTIONAL!

Beatiful version, but I will always love Dolly Parton's one.. I loved Whitney and liked very much Jennifer Hudson's rendition. But it seems that very few know who the original writer and singer of this song is. It is just a personal opinion, but it was the only song of Whitney's I did'nt like. Whenever I listen to it, I will always play Dolly's version, what a beatiful voice and feeling she put into her notes. It is sad that she does not get the credit she deserves. Love you Whitney, I love you and all of your songs, but one. God bless you.

Screw you.. Whitney Housten. A star famous for going to rehab, makes world wide news. All the men who died fighting for our country, forgotten. What the hell America. Those men had families and reasons to be here but they died for YOU. And you respect them by forgetting they ever exsisted.

Awful and OVERRATED!. Awful! If Jennifer Hudson truly wanted to honor Whitney, she should've written and sang her own song...always covering too many songs. I would've enjoyed the song better if Dolly Parton had sung it that night for Whitney. Charging for this horrible cover cheapens the memory of Whitney by making money off of her death like that. If there was a NEGATIVE STAR rating I would have rated it as such!

Beautiful. Jennifer you are beautiful :) and we will always love you whitney <3

Didn't like it. No bueno!!!

One verse?. Is this a tribute or an American Idol audition? Waste of money.

Nope. Don't get me wrong she's awesome , nut nothing will EVER come close to Whitney's version.

:). awesome :)

Close but no cigar. Jen did a good job, however, she appeared rushed in the arrangement either because of time constraints or just a bad arrangment. This version along with most I listened too were missing the very long and seemingly never ending, ending note! All in all this version is worthy of purchase as it's a musical peice of history performed by the second best voice too emulate Whitney's once upon a time great set of Perfect pitched pipes! R.I.P. and thoughts and prayers sent on a daily basis to family, friends and fan's of Miss Houston! Barry E. Bertino

She was awesome. Lots of you are saying she was rushing and was singing awful but that didn't matter she was singing for whitney houston and that's all that matters :) RIP Whitney

UM…….. NO!!. I thought her performance was one of her Nutri System commercials. Some songs should be left alone and this was one of them. And I am NOT going to say it was so excellent and "she made it her own" when she sounded terrible singing Whitney's version of Dolley's song. Whitney made it her own! Jennifer and the Grammys should've left it alone or got someone with the pipes to bring it like Whitney brought it (Patti LaBelle immediately comes to mind). So iTunes sees this as an opportunity to make money off of Whitney's death with this song is wrong donating it or not. Period…. it's just wrong.

amaizing. very well singed by the beutiful and only Jennifer Hudson but no one singed it better then Whitney Huston the great legend of the music history but now she is gone from our lifes and we will dearly miss her.

LOST ALL RESPECT!. Why is she selling this when it was suppose to be a heartfelt tribute. No it was a money investment to her and this is why I don not support her anymore.

Jennifer Hudson. She did a great job but Whitney is Whitney no one should attempt that song.

Wow.. I love Jennifer Hudson, honestly. This was a good rendition and for all of you that are negatively rating this should honestly giver her a break. You are all comparing her FAR too much to Whitney. Yes, Whitney's rendition will always be better, but she is the originator. So, for someone like Jennifer to cover this song, it fit. Great job, Jennifer!

Not even close. Nobody should even attempt this song it's all Whitney

Just sad!!. It's sad how commenters don't even know how much Jennifer was hurting that night, how the audience was crying... She sang this in just a day after death. Whitney was jens idol, her mentor and friend. Jen already had did this song justice, Whitney was there at the b.e.t. divas guess who sang the song ...jennifer. The honor was given in life not in death. So stop being hypocritical and sit ya butt down when you know facts especially that WHITNEY presented Jennifer with her first EVER Grammy. So you don't know how emotional she was that night. To me it was beautiful and she sang a well respected for the moment rendition. RIP Whitney 😢

What a loss.. What is pink, six inches long and has not been sucked on in three weeks? Whitney's crack pipe. :)

Not impressed. I didn't think Jennifer was the right person to sing this song in honor of Whitney. First of all, I have always thought that if you're paying tribute to someone, you should sing the song the way they sang it. I think it's disrespectful to stylize it to your own liking. The artist that you're honoring had a specific interpretation of it and that is why the song was so successful. Don't mess around with it. I also didn't think she hit the notes very well, but then, it's hard to come even close to hitting the same notes Whitney was capable of.

No Justice. I wish they would have let Amber from Glee sing this....she hits all the high notes like Whitney. JH can sing, but not this one.

Jennifer's Performance. People are saying that she could/(maybe)should have shown more emotion. Considering that she performed this for Whitney at the BET Honors in 2010, and sang it directly to her, I believe that she performed as best she could under the circumstances. Bravo to Jennifer for making this rendition her OWN, and did not try to copy what Whitney made her signature. She showed both poise, calm and deep heart. God Bless her for this, also being asked to do this at the last minute, she did the best could. NO ONE will ever be able mimick what Whitney did for this song, including the original performer of this song Dolly Parton..(something that she recognizes). Also, all proceeds for this performance and the other performances DID go to Whitney's charity. GodBless Jennifer for a beautiful poignant performance. May Whitney be as proud of her at this performance as she was when Jennifer originally sang it at the BET Honors.

One Word: CELINE. This would have been better if Celine Dion sang the tribute. Jennifer Hudson's voice is too jarring and brash. I always thought this song was made for Celine's voice anyway. Sorry Whitney. I guess since she was black, they had to choose a black singer to do this tribute right?

crazy!!!. She was sooooooooo amazing at this single!!!! loved it

I don't understand……….... ……………what the hype is about Jennifer Hudson anymore. When she first started singing she was incredible. Lately however she has had 1 awful performance after another. Along with losing all the weight she lost (props to her for getting healthier) she lost most of her talent as well. This was just HORRIBLE. Yeah she was overcome with emotion and blah, blah but this was a rushed, second rate performance by a third rate performer. And everyone is right - Amber Riley's (from GLEE) version of this song was 1000 times better than this.

Tribute. Ms. Hudson paid such a venerable tribute to one of the greatest singers of our time. The dramatic pauses, the ornate grace notes, and her beautiful vibrato really sent to the audience the tragic death of Whitney Houston. While no one will ever be able to sing this song like Whitney herself, Ms. Hudson paid great homage with this beautiful rendition. Thank you Jennifer.

Such a gifted artist. I have always rooted for Jennifer Hudson since she was on American Idol. This performance just gave me chills. She is such a beautiful soul and to do that performance on so little notice and be so flawless just shows what a strong person she is. Through all the personal pain she has experienced in her own life she gets back up and knocks it out of the park. Way to go Jennifer. It makes me sad that there always has to be haters or negative comments. Just enjoy her gift, we need more people in this world that build others up and not just those that are always trying to knock you down!

GREAT!!!!!!!!. THIS WAS SUCH A TOUCHING SONG,AND FOR IT TO BE SANG BY JENNIFER H. @ THE GRAMMY,WAS A NITE TO NEVER FORGET ....

Can be better. Charice Pempengco can do more justice than her.

amazing. Her voice has so much resonance and sounds great

Not even close. There are a handful of divas that easily could have done a much better job. At best, the least jennifer could have done is sing the song with a little humility. For whatever reason, I look at her when she is singing this and it's like she is saying "look at me, look at me". At the hiatus of the song, I think she butchered it, to be honest.

Incredible! Poignant! Touching!! Fitting!!. Few may argue that Jen didn't "let loose" voclly on this tribute, but I feel that she did what was necessary and warranted and gave a fitting tribute to woman who's voice captivated/mesemrized a generation for several decades. Great job Jen, great job, MaMa!!

Heartfelt Performance!. A beautiful tribute to a beautiful and talented artist who passed much too young! Jennifer Hudson looks and sounds beautiful and the emotion (both love and sorrow) she pours into the performance for her dear friend is evident. I would imagine that Whitney Houston would have been quite proud of the performance! As a side note, I don't think it is fair to compare Whitney Houston's version to Dolly Parton's version to Jennifer Hudson's version. They are all talented in their own right and bring something different to the song; it speaks to the depth of Dolly Parton's song writing as well as the music genius of the singers that re-interpret the song. It is not a song for the feint-hearted and bravo to Jennifer Hudson for singing it much like Whitney Houston and hitting the big notes and bringing an emotion to it that only someone close to Whitney Houston could have done!

Thank you Jennifer Hudson!. Thank you Jennifer Hudson for an amazing tribute to Whitney Houston! You did her proud! You sang my favorite love long with your own style and grace. It is honorable that the proceeds of this song are donated to Musicares….Amazing! : )

Screw you. Whitney you will never be forgotten I will always remember you as the girl that had alot of talent and beauty and then became a loser and fell into drugs.. Take car and rip don't do drugs and u won't end up like this ur funeral was embarrassing you did not deserve to have the flag lowered soldiers do

Nothing special. This is nothing special, she's trying WAY to hard. Every note she sings she does vibrato which makes her sound HORRIBLE, she's a good singer don't get me wrong but not for this song. Also I think the actual writer of this song (Dolly Parton) should have performed it and it would have been a heartfelt tribute considering her and Whitney had some kind of connection. Now a days when celebrities pass away it's all about who gets the money, even family, and what not which is so disrespectful. it's not even about remembering them. RIP Ms. Houston.

Terrible try ms Hudson. Why ruin a beautiful song! Boone could ever match the late Whitney houston

Simple Stunning. This Dolly Parton's song (Yes ladies and Gents, Dolly wrote and performed before Whitney) is just one of the most beautifuls songs ever written. Whitney Houston however immortalize it with her amazing vocals and performance. I am a huge fan of Jennifed Hudson, and being an artist myself can't even imagine how hard it can be to sing a tribute to that song the day after Whitney passing away. Great job, Jennifer once again you have demostrated that you have what it take to be and American Icon!!

BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE!!!!!. Best.Tribute.Ever!!! Great Job J Huds!!!!!!!!

Nice try. We all know she couldn't beat Whitney's version but to me she tried to hard. She also tried to put her own twist on it here and there. A better tribute would have been to sing it the same way and not try to own it. Good effort though.
