I Lovett! (Pun intended). Being a fan of the original, I didn't think I'd like the new version, but I was wrong! It is amazing! My favorite songs are A Little Priest, By the Sea, Worst Pies in London, and Green Finch and Linnet Bird. And the new Johanna is amazing, much better then the original!

Outstanding!. Alright, I am a hardcore Sweeney Todd fan and I really don't know what (not on iTunes but on various websites) people are complaining about. I have heard and or seen three other productions of Sweeney Todd, and this one is one of my absolute favorites (my other favorite is George and Angela... really really really good). I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but I think Johnny's portrayal was spectacular, yes it was different from the originals, but I mean really, how would you feel? To back up my claim, I saw quite a few interviews on the movie. Tim had a completely different idea on how everyone should act, and besides it's Tim Burton! There's going to be gore and darkness but also there is going to be a little light and... well... COLOR too, if you know what I mean. On terms of the soundtrack, I found everyones voice positively beautiful. Helena put this whole new twist on Mrs. Lovett that I was really fond of. I love Johnny's voice for it's slight ruff-ness yet not to ruff to where it's just... eh... I haven't seen anyone comment on Edward Sanders so here I go... TOBY! Oh my god... I loved him. He was such a sweet character! I really loved Ed's voice and I can't help but label him as Toby, although Ken Jennings comes a very close second for his final scenes with Mrs. Lovett and his moment of madness at the very end. I also want to complement Laura Michelle Kelly... I've heard her as Mary Poppins and just CAN NOT understand how Lucy and Mary are played by the same person! Of course Alan Rickman was very good at performing, (this is the first time I've ever thought the Judge was attractive). I just cringe a little during Pretty WOman because of the concept. The only problem I had was a few of my favorite songs were either cut out or cut down, but other than that this soundtrack is outstanding. All my favorite people crammed into my favorite musical!!

😃. I didn't think that I would like Depp's singing, but I feel in love immediately. It's different. Outside of that, the composer should get a giant thumbs up. I really would recommend this album to anyone. It's truly fantastic.

Darker and even more thrilling. I'm a huge fan of Sweeney Todd. I've been privileged enough to perform in two different versions of my favorite musical in two different theatres. That being said, I have a deep love for the incredible, dark, and often comical soundtrack created by the master of Broadway, Sondheim. Now, I have the original cast album, with Angela Lansbury, and I have also seen the Neil Patrick Harris and Patti Labuan version on YouTube, as well as the original show and the 2005 version. So, I'm well versed in different takes on this incredible and unique musical. Many people criticize this movie, but I have to say there's no reason to. Yes, it is very different than the Sweeney we all know and love, but it's directed by the master of gothic horror/comedy, Tim Burton. Many will remember that Burton in the 90s directed such pictures as Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, and Sleepy Hallow. He also wrote and produced the classic, The Nightmare before Christmas. All those prove his talent in such filmmaking. And one of those is indeed a musical, with a dark yet lovable score, much like this one. That's how you know he really was the right man for the job. The music is more on the darker side, and the horror aspect of the story is up'd to make it more modern. This works for a film version. I listening to a darker tone in Sweeney's voice, Johnny Depp's voice wouldn't have worked on the stage, but my God, on the screen and in my earphones you can really hear the pain and misery of Sweeney's character through the controlled anger of his singing. Carter makes Lovette a deliciously evil mix of cockney AND British elegance, making her very hard to predict (even if you know the story like the back of your hand). Other cast members are truly exceptional on this album, this movie definitely can claim the best actor to play Anthony. He finally feels like the young, fresh, and extremely innocent character described in the novel, unlike many of the manly actors to perform in the shows. The young boy who plays Tobias has a beautiful voice, very impressive for someone his age, and he too adds to his character due to his being younger than any of the actors to play him. This is worth having whether you're a fan of Sondheim or Burton, or just musicals in general.

Awesome :). The first time i heard these songs was during a local preformance in my town. Being Johnny Depp fans, my friend and I who went to see it came back and immediatley watched the movie. I have to say its amazing! I have heard the Broadway versions of the songs, too, and they are very good also.I am a huge fan of alot of the actors and actresses in the movie, and it was pretty awesome seeing them sing :) the songs them selves are also very well done. :D

An Honestly Good Movie&Soundtrack. I had first heard of this during school, when we were told to say our favorite movies. One girl named Lydia said Sweeney Todd. I had heard of it, but never thought about seeing it. I found out it was rated R, so I watched it in secret. But I was amazed. Usually I hate Johnny Depp, but he has a great voice and played Mr. Todd very well. Helena was great as Mrs. Lovett. I also didn't know that Alan Rickman could sing as well as he does. I was never a big fan of gore, but it was worth it. My favorites are: Epiphany A Little Priest Johanna My Friends The Worst Pies in London

LOVE this album. I loved the album and the movie, I wish the play would come back to Broadway. But, am I the only one that has A Little Priest only playing a minute and then moving to the next song? I can't believe I paid $17 for a flawed download. I could have bought the CD for cheaper.

As a fan of musicals, especially Sondheim musicals, I thought Sondheim did a spectacular job and the CD is worth the money you pay. Even the digital booklet is worth it because it has the lyrics and great shots of the actors from the movie! :)

Ballad of Sweeney Todd. I absolutely love this portrayal of the original Broadway production of Sweeney Todd. The choice of Depp as Sweeney was a brilliant choice, his diversity and his ability to play what ever character is needed for the role. However I was disappointed that the ballad is Sweeney was not sung in the movie, and the duet between Joanna and Anthony "kiss me" was sadly missed, this song was a huge part of the character development that I believe is needed for this movie. Overall I LOVED the movie and the actors cast for the leading roles.😍

Sweeny Todd -The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. LOVE it. Helena Bonham Carter has no limits. She is phenomenal in the film and just overall fantastic. Love her voice. I know I'm gushing but i adore her. And Johnny Depp is great too. lol

Doesn't work on its own. :(. I really enjoyed the movie, seeing it multiple times, but without the visual half, this recording can't hold the smallest candle to a stage recording. There's no emphasis, no emotion; it's all flat and smooth, as if they're just muttering through all the songs. I'm not sure if it has to do with how they recorded it or something (they all, for the most part, seem to have decent-to good singing voices, especially Alan Rickman), or just Burton's apparent thing for having everybody murmur their lines through tiny smirks/stony glares/etc. My biggest issue with the movie is the lack of emotional range the characters display during the more humorous scenes in the first half (I miss Len Cariou's toothy grin and braying laugh and Angela Lansbury's bright tittering; you can actually tell their characters are having a riot while singing puns about cannibalism), and hearing the movie soundtrack just exacerbates the feeling that all the emotion has been stripped out of the songs. Unless you're only in it for the novelty of hearing Johnny Depp/Helena Bonham Carter/Sacha Baron Cohen sing, or have never heard a stage recording to compare it to, I recommend not wasting your money. Even then, just watch the movie. Much more enjoyable.

The best soundtrack ever!. FANTASTIC beyond words!!!! This is hands down the best soundtrack ever made! Sweeney Todd is one of my most very favorite Johnny Depp movies! The music is beautiful, and Johnny truly has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard, it is my favorite sound. Helena Bonham Carter's voice goes so beautifully with Johnny's, they are such awesome people. I listen to this soundtrack ALL the time, and when I am not listening to it, I am probably singing it in my head or humming it, I know the words like the back of my hand. Be sure to get this version because it has more, longer songs, and that is definately a good thing. There is nothing quiet like Sweeney Todd and that really makes it special. The light music, set with the dark vision is just....so incridible and unique. The songs are so fun to sing along with and I love every song on the album. As hard as it is to choose, my favorite songs are "My Friends", "Pirelli's Miracle Elixir", "Johanna", "A Little Priest", "Pretty Women", "By the Sea", and "Worst Pies in London".
