Aggravated. Green Day are NOT sell-outs. Just because a band gains respect and popularity from their music doesn't mean that they have sold out. Green Day DOESN'T write songs for money, they write songs about what they care about and get money because the music is good. Ever been to a concert? They focus on the fans and are crazy up on stage. Believe me, Green Day has only evolved. The punk values are still there. And let me ask a question: Green Day made millions of dollars and were all over the radio because of Dookie, but they weren't sellouts then, huh? Does a maturity of music mean sellout. Green Day and the Simpsons Rule!!!. I haven't heard the whole version of the song, but of what I've heard, I've like it. If your a fan of Green Day, then you should most definately like this song, if your a fan of the Simpsons all the way, then you'll love the song. This was a fun little project for green day, and they got promotion for the new album. To incorperate and orchastrated piece into a punk-sounding song is not easy. It's short but nice. If you're a green day/simpsons fan, go ahead.

Unbelievable!. The beauty of this, is that we all have the choice of buying a song that we like, or NOT if we don't. If you like it, great. If you don't fine. But do you HAVE to share your opinions with everyone? Is it possible for the rest of us to possibly try and decide on our own? Here's an idea. This song may be worthy of those who enjoy movie soundtracks, like my 12 year old brother's hefty, oreo eating friend. For the rest of us, stay away, and use your money on something more fulfilling like a chocolate bar or small baggie of rubber bands.

The original is better. The original version of this theme song is much better than green day's version of it. Green day can do way better than this!

Try reading the song title before you purchase. What were you expecting? An original new Green Day song? Not likely for a cartoon movie of a longtime running series. Especially for one where the infamous theme song has never contained any words or lyrics. Use some common sense. I for one find it quite hilarious and entertaining how the theme was done in this case. I love the Simpsons and Green Day is a good band and they did a good job with the theme. A nice change from the series to the movie.

The simpson 4 ever. It was the best movie I saw

A boring sell-out job. Wow. For Green Day to sell out like this is pretty surprising. It wouldn't have been such a heinous crime, however, if they'd actually done a good job covering this tune. As it is, it is boring and repetitious, just like others have said in these comments. What this hack job does show is that pure wanking on a melody DOES NOT a song make. If you have a good listen to the original theme, what carries it and makes it excellent is the arranging and orchestration -- the variety of sound elements -- used across the orchestra. THAT makes the Simpsons theme "move"... despite it have a repetitive melody as well as being pretty derivative of the old "Jetsons" TV theme in the first place. Reduced to the basic approach of the punk rock style, there are not enough "tricks in the bag" of punk rock to sustain the effort. Result: a boring cash grab. DON'T SUCCUMB TO IT, PEOPLE! And, speaking of cash, this whole effort stinks even further by Fox CHARGING MONEY for this! What would have been The Right Thing To Do was to have offered it as a free promotional track to further generate the hype surrounding this movie. Surely, they can afford Green Day's tab for the recording session! The distribution would have been A LOT wider, versus the hardcore Green Day fans who would empty their pockets for this crap. Think about it... if you heard this song as an original piece of music from Green Day, would you buy it??

sellout?. Actually green day i think sold out well before this cover. Who wouldnt, they have more money than god now, and quite the impressive marketing scheme. As for the cover, it is repititious as the theme is, didnt really need Green Day to cover it, they could have just done as well if they got some sound engineers who know how to play record it.
