Surprised. I had just bought the song and was listening when my kid walked up and heard the cuss word. I wish I had known. Then I wouldn't have bought it. I would have gladly bought the clean version. It was good when the "Explicit" label was put on songs with bad language.

Devil Went down to Georgia. Great song. This is "son of a b" version. If you want the clean version you can get it on the album "Columbia Country Classics, Vol 3: Americana" It has the radio edit with "son of a gun"

Devil went down to Georgia. If you want the best rendition of this song, stick to the oldie but goodie. I downloaded the newest song from the Essential Super hits, and I didnt care for it at all. There was way to much clatter, like a bunch of garbage cans rattling and clanging around, it totally distracted from the mood of the story that came with the original, and my complaint has nothing to do with the Vocal capability of an aged Charlie Daniels, his vocals are still on. I unfortunatley have both renditions now, because I hated the newest one, but love the old. If you grew up listening to this song, you will probably think the same way, if it is new to you, you may be ok with the new version or re-make as they call it.

OK album. They are all ok songs, but the devil went down to georgia and souths gonna do it again are both good songs

put the metal versoin on. man why don't you put the metal versoin of devil went down to Goergia on iTunes. my friend got it off of here but I don't know how. Put on the metal verson

Devil Went Down to Georgia. This is a great song, but Daniels did two versions. In the original, he uses the phrase "son of a gun." In a later version he uses "son of a b****." Not only does the second version break the rhyme of the song (I guess Daniels wanted to show his disgust with the devil; who knows?) but it also makes what is otherwise a great, stomping wholesome, fun song inappropriate for younger audiences. iTunes should provide an explicit marker next to the later song so that buyers can determine the one they want without spending money to buy every performance.

one of my favorite albums. several amazing songs in this song list. Devil went down to Georgia, great song get this one not the crappy guitar hero version, needs the fiddle Every time I see him, not my favorite, everyone has a flop In America, one of the greatest songs on the greatest album the legend of wooly swamp, one of the best let it roll, great song the souths gonna do it again, fun song(if your a redned like me) still in saigon, pretty good song strokers theme, great song uneasy rider! AWSOME song, extreemly funny yet a great song great music like this is not being turned out, the crappy rock they have today, most of it is crap country is the way to go now adays or just get the classics like huey lewis and the news.

In America. This songs up Charlie's ability to pull people together from all walks of life and geographies. I'm old enough to remember when this song came out and it definitely was a rally cry whether you were from Alaska or Nashville. "Just go and lay your hand, on a Pittsburgh Steelers fan . . . " A great guy, a spectacular talent.

Hey! Missin' a song!. I looked up this album on google, and iTunes is missing The Devil Comes Back to Georgia, the sequel to The Devil Went Down to Georgia. WHY?!

I guess I heard a third version of "Devil". I think the version I used to hear on the radio had the S.O.B. but it was bleeped out, the way it was in Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue." Great song, no matter what.

classic. truly one of the best albums, even after so many years his toe tappin music is a hit. I find myself singing along to every one of the songs and having a great time. A must have to any music collectors library.

frg doesn't know...... Great album because it covers a wide time period of the CDB. When frg wrote about 2 versions of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" he must not of realized that the original cut from the original album contained S.O.B. The Son of a gun was dubbed in so all the "bubble gum pop" stations on FM radio could play it without incurring fines from the FCC (see George Carlin's seven dirty words...S.O.B. is numero uno). Long before Charlie Daniel's started playing the God fearing, anti drug, kill the criminals music (which is good stuff) he was a certified dope smoking, hard drinking, bar rousin', country rocking guy. Listen to "Uneasy Rider", "Long Haired Country Boy", and than laugh out loud at the hypocrisy 30 years down the road when he's singing about tying dope dealers to tree stumps in the middle of the Louisiana swamps. This is a great album and if you want your kids to grow up in a buibble don't play it for them, however my four year old is having a great time right now dancing around the living room listening to it.

Great if you like country. I personaly am not a fan of country, but if I was this would be my favorite song. I like the rock remix more. And also, he said the b word. Wow. That is such a bad word guys I can't believe anyone would say that. I'm being sarcastic.
