Timeless. I grew up with James Taylor's music as well as a few others, but his lyrics and just the way his songs seem to get to that part of you that really needs to hear them is great (if that makes any sense at all). This is a great album that takes me right back to being a kid and listening to my Dad play these on the big stereo in the living room. Just amazing.

A TIMELESS POP MASTERPIECE. The angels must have been visitng the studio when these songs were recorded. The playing, the engineering, and the singing are almost other-worldly. Of course none of these things would add up to much if the songs weren't great...and they are. Another Grey Morning, one of James' all time greatest vocals as well as one of his most moving songs, is as sad a portrait of a woman battling with her inner demons as you're ever likely to hear in a pop song. Handy Man, an enormous hit, is also one of James' cleverest covers, and Carly Simon's vocals on Terra Nova are wondeful. Looking For Love on B'way is another miniature masterpiece (Kunkel and Sklar are amazing), and Honey Don't Leave LA and Telling a Lie are two of James' most convincing rockers. Truly one of the best pop records ever made.

Excellent Classic JT. The song that drew me to this album is the least popular, yet so enormously poignant for those moments of life when you just don’t feel like a smile or much of anything. He captures the title so eloquently, as a writer, I find him unequalled in his songwriting prowess…. “The clouds put their heads on the ground, she’s going to have to come down.” “She said make me angry, or just make me cry…no more grey morning I think I’d rather die” Now that’s grey as we all have known it I am sure! simply excellent understated album—still my favorite JT of all.

❤️. ❤️

Quintessential recording. Not only is this album musically incredible, the recording is perfect. Thirty years after its release, it still stands as an example of how music should be recorded, mixed, and mastered. It is always my first choice when benchmarking new speakers.

One of my all-time favorite albums. I wore this album out when I was going to college. It had a big influence on me. Really wonderful music that brings back so many great memories.

👌🏻. This was the first James Taylor album I ever herd and I still listen to it, it's absolutely amazing !

As incredible now as ever!. James and I are the same age and I literally grew up with his music. I have seen him numerous times and he has aged (as we all have) but his sounds are still the same clear toned beauties that they alway have been. My favorite on this album is "Bartender's Blues" and I am so glad I found this on ITunes. The funny thing about going to a JT concert even now is that the audience is such a mixture of old and young. He is just as loved by the younger generation as with us old fogies. Hang in there JT. We love you.

Oh. He'll

Every track's worthwhile.. Yup - - been listening to this album since it first came out and I still love it. Never tire of it. iTunes reviewers consistently bash James Taylor, but he's still got a lot of fans that enjoy his sound and his music. Keep 'em comin', JT!

Wow.... Funny thing is, my family has this RECORD and we play it on a turntable, and seeing it on iTunes is just WEIRD. Excellent album. Period.

beautiful. My mother used to sing "There we are" to my brothers and I every night at bedtime for years. I cry whenever I listen to that beautiful song. This album means a lot to me.

its great. ok well i was not born at all around the time period this came out but my mom was and im just in love with the song your smiling face it proves that james taylors music is good for all ages it wont get old and my mom has the record i just love it

As classic as it gets. There are few albums I've listened to more than this seminal work by my favorite artist. James Taylor defined an era for me, and defined what it meant to be a singer-songwriter. James has aged well, and so has his music. If you don't recognize these songs (perhaps because you're younger) you will recognize the names of those he's influenced. This album was released during a good period in James Taylor's life. It was rocky before, and it would get rocky again. This snapshot feels "frozen in time" during a surprisingly blissful period. I am reminded of these songs when I am in a mood. There's a lot of emotion here. And I am inspired to express my artist's self when I listen in. Effortless and beautiful. Keeping it as simple as enjoying the passage of time...simple until you try and play this stuff on the guitar.

James Taylor. By fan.. It saddens me to know that the best years for singer songwriters are long behind us. However we do still gems like these to keep alive as it were, to keep us going forward. Thank you James Taylor for this incredible album, you are indeed a living great.

JT lovin it JC. This is such a laid back album with so much love and emotion. Sample it and enjoy it. I've had hours of pleasure from it. There are so manydifferent types os songs it's difficult to satywhich is the best but try 1 & 7 very different songs. 2 is also a bit of a fav. Sit back with a beer, relax and enjoy and reminisce.

Great. I really enjoy this album , he one of the best .

A True classic album. I brought this album on its released in '77 and have been totally hooked on it ever since, sounds as fresh now as it did all those years ago. As a true JT fan have brought and still enjoy all his releases, but this and the Gorilla album just have that special something.
