a must for Dylan fans. Gong Like Rightness!. ive been listening to it since I was 14...25 years later and weve grown older together and despite periods of not listening to any Dylan at all...i always come back to his work and always always to Infidels...if i had to take only 1 from any period I'd take Infidels. Epic and personal, suggestive yet teasingly opaque non linear narratives, stream of conciousness, social conciousness, bitter sweet love songs, the general and the particular, humour, subtle writing and a sometimes laugh out loud straight forwardness...theres a gong like rightness to this album, making it a masterpiece in my mind. Great band with him in the studio, Mark Knopfler is especially good. Apparently this album was long and difficult in the making, finally done and ready for release, BD was unhappy with it, recalls the band into the studio and re records it all over again in a weekend, to his total satisfaction...the result being something fresher than the struggled over progenitor. For me the No.1 but the best of Blood On The Tracks, Street Legal, Slow Train Coming and Time Out Of Mind is in a very similar vein and is of equal high quality.
