The soundtrack to frustrated geeks. This soundtrack has blips, beats, haunting piano chords, and the screams of a guitar, which gives this soundtrack its unusual and disturbing sound. The music could convey mark zuckenberg's feelings of frustration, anxiety, and anger in a nutshell. Hans Zimmer's soundtrack is good but it doesn't feel like it was properly executed, it feels like half of the soundtrack was a car chase background music and the rest were the sounds of the protagonist 's desperation to get back home. This soundtrack (social network) introduces the world of cinema two brillant composers, who made a soundtrack that's new and fresh.

Stylized or not there's incorrect static on these tracks. Hi, nearly all the tracks here contain high frequency static blips that do not sound intentional LP Phonograph sound effects or Techno/House texturing but more like you have just broken your tweeters. I've got some serious hi-fi equipment both in headphones and stereo equipment and even granted this is a 256kps .m4p there is something wrong with these songs. The static flutters happen using different speakers and headphones. Track number 8, "Pieces Form the Whole", clearly has sonic errors, there's no amount of artistic liberty that would justify what is being sold here. I believe this is why it costs $7.99 and not $9.99 or higher, iTunes or Null know about this. It's a bummer really, the soundtrack seemed excellent for the movie.

You Should Expect More...Especially if it managed to win an Oscar. As a person with strong musical interests, I listen to the music when I watch movies, and I regularly buy soundtracks. I watched The Social Network well after the Oscar ceremony. I was already fuming because Inception didn't win Best Original Score. As I watched the movie, I was struck by how techno-like the music was. I went to the iTunes store, and listened to the clips. It was a hard thing to do. First of all, the only track that is even remotely good is "Hand Covers Bruise". Then, the rest become very techno. I agree with the statement: "Glad you know how to work a computer." So they do. But what about the others? The other composers whose tracks had a unique feel to them and differed from each other is ways that showed creativity at its best? After a while, all of these tracks begin to sound boring and repetitive, like Reznor and Ross have run out of any new ideas, and are just trying to push this score past fifty minutes (and it runs past 66). The (minor) creativity only appears on the opening track. And to have this techno music coming from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who have spent most of their careers working in bands with rock and techno music, there is no creativity at all. They've been doing it for most of their musical lives, and are doing what they know, not trying to do what they don't know (that's creative). If they wanted to try something original, then why not go for a more classical-like approach? Why It SHOULD NOT Have won that Oscar. a.) In 2008, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard (who are both stunning composers) were disqualified from the Oscar competition for "Best Original Score" because there were two composers instead of one. b.) This is strictly my opinion: There is no creativity in this techno-based score, especially coming from Reznor and Ross. c.) This score made use of a PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED MATERIAL. "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" is not an original piece, and if reasons A and B aren't enough, then C should prove it. By Academy Rules, this score should be disqualified, because "Mountain King" was not an original work. (Edvard Grieg). Overall, this is probably one of the worst soundtracks ever written. It did not deserve the Academy Award--by Academy rules, as well. It was distracting in the movie, and I couldn't help but hope for the scenes where there was no music. To the person who mentioned that Hans Zimmer recycles scores like it's his job: No, he doesn't. Compare the intensity of Inception to "Science and Religon" in Angels And Demons. There is a remarkable difference. It is obvious that Hans Zimmer has diversity, and I'm saying that as a Zimmer fan, and as someone who composes music.

This isn't techno idiots.. Trent Reznor= industrial.

Fantastic. Love this album, best songs are Hand Covers Bruise and Gentle Hum of Anxiety - gives me the creeps.
