Unsure. I haven't bought this, but it sounds more pop-music-y than his older songs, and it's absulutely not what I expected.

Good but.... I like John Mayer's music, but I don't like who John Mayer is.

Props, John Mayer. I have a ton of John Mayer on my iTunes that I never listen to. But something about this album made me actually listen to it. I don't like John Mayer very much as a person, but these lyrics are so honest and raw. "Heartbreak Warfare" is beautiful and I love the lyrics. I think my favorite song on this album would have to be "Assassin" because it's so interesting lyrically and musically. Props, John Mayer.

Still to this day disappointed.. I am a huge fan of John, and when I first heard this album, I didn't really like it. So I've waited a while to see if it could grow on me and still to this day I don't think there is any variety in these songs. Most of them sound the same, except Crossroads, which is actually a cool rock/blues song on this album that I've grown to like, (This album is also missing the sexy blues riffs and solos that John had on Continuum). Sorry Johnny, but I'm NOT recommending this to anyone except people who like songs that are extremely poppy and don't sound to special. But John, your Paradise Valley album is Dynamite.

Bad-dull Studies. If you ever wondered what John Mayer could do in his sleep, this album might be your answer: it really sounds like he's napping most of the way through. There are a still few isolated moments of inspiration and originality...and the tracks 'Assassin' and 'Crossroads' capture most of them. The other tracks each seem like songs John Mayer could have written, rehearsed, and recorded in the same half hour. Repetitive riffs and lyrics, and harmonically cliched. Boring and unremarkable...a real departure from his other great collections.
