Last of John Mayer as we knew him. In terms of his first four albums, this was probably the least impressive. But it was still quite good. Unfortunately his next two albums are the equivalent of God deciding to make a movie and settling on hot tub time machine. Is it entertaining? Mildly. But could God do better? Yes.

Overlooked. I love this album - I think it's been overlooked greatly. A comforting, contemporary look at life and love with Mayer's trademark soul.

Perfect.. John Mayer is perfect. Always will be. As long as he doesn't pull a t-swift & we all know what that means, then he'll remain perfect.

"Not Continuum." Not Supposed to Be. When listening to this album, people need to put Continuum in a dark corner of their mind. Battle Studies is not a follow up to that album that we all know is Mayer's best work thus far. Battle Studies is a completely different project. It's a story that plays out track by track with "Crossroads" as an intermission. It contains a different agenda. It's linear. I don't think it's fair to compare the latest album of any artist with their previous or greatest effort. Don't do it with Continuum and Battle Studies because you will be disappointed. Instead, give this album a chance to be its own thing.The lyrics are profound "Heartbreak Warfare" and the melodies are laid back "Do You Know Me." Please give this whole album at least two solid listen throughs and I think you will find it remarkable in its own right.
