Kind of self-indulgent. The only song I like on this album is the one performed solo by Marketa Irglova. As for the rest, I can't count how many times I've re-visited the album to try again to like it, but Glen Hansard's emotional affectations bother me every time. I can really get into someone belting from the heart if I can relate to the lyrics, and the singer is believable, but most of the songs on this album are poisoned by un-earned "emotional" climaxes and drama. There's a sameness to the songs that bores me to tears. I tried to like it because I liked the movie, but I just can't.
