Wilco has been mailing it in for awhile. Jeff Tweedy gave into age, put on a ton of weight, somewhere in the mid-2000's. This album, like their last several, seem like a band that is either coasting, or creatively bereft of ideas. And to me, that comes down to JT. He needs to find a way to get back to that crazy angry guy that was engine for much transcendental rock music over his first 20 years. Lately, it sounds like a guy fighting off insomnia. And naming an album Star Wars, whether its "ironic" or not, is just a total cop out creatively.

Wonderfully Weird. This is Wilco's weirdest record since Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and that is high praise. YHF is still my favorite Wilco LP, and it might retain that spot, but this one will rank right up there with it. I love all Jeff's stuff (especially WARM), but I find that the more eclectic material has a longer shelf life. For example, I'm a little burnt out on Being There, but Sunken Treasure is eternal. I think this one will stay with you a long, long time.

Warm III. Absolute fan of this band since YHF. I get super-pumped for the new releases, and just like the last one, a complete letdown. While some reviewers here missed it on Star Wars, this album is devoid of hooks or anything upbeat for that matter. (I recommend people wishing for that to go back and listen to SW again and leave this thing be). These songs could’ve been nurtured a little more in my opinion and brightened up in the mix. Seemed like this material was just leftovers from the Tweedy solo records and they wanted to get back to the road and slapped together this um, piece together in a flash. So when the next album is due out, I’ll cool my jets and cross my fingers it’s not Warmest or Schmilco II. LET NELS ROCK

Ouch. Used to love them years ago. There last bunch of albums seem monotonous and dull. Keep checking back to see if they have a 2nd life. That may be hopeless. Looks like some like it so I guess that’s good for them.
